If its running the Unity 3d engine then its likely to have the same flaws as BSG Online (Battlestar Galactica) and a similar style of game play. None of those actually appealed to me and the shear amount of background data downloaded to the PC over a play session was phenomenal.

If they had figured out a way to 'pre load' the Unity cache overnight when I have free internet I would quite happily give it a go but as things stand.. its not for me.

Just played this one tonight -- it was nice that the mission was a departure from the norm. I agree that the vacationers on the beach were well characterized. Interesting story -- I enjoyed it!

Re: Steam Group?!

June 05 2011
haha... well it's worth checking out Steam if only for the regular special offers. :P

The games seem to run exactly the same through Steam as without, Sean... and for those games that don't like being alt-tabbed, you can then instead access the internet by shift-tabbing to get the Steam overlay up - can be handy! :)

xD i'd join the steam group if ya made one >.> but i don't use Steam much i only have HL2 and CSS on it ^^, Windows live for me ^_^. That asid you could use XFire for help getting ppl online for STFs since that too shows what your playing and can chat out of game also ^^. I used to use XFire soooo much back in the day of Star Trek Bridge Commander and Star trek Armada 2 ^^

This mission was just awesome!
I definitely had a few "oh shit" moments when some of the creatures caught me off guard! The custom environments were awesome and gave the mission a really terrific feel! I was enjoying the mission so much that I took a few screenies! Really good work!

Re: Steam Group?!

*shakes head in disbelief* ;)

http://store.steampowered.com/

It's a game purchasing & playing portal... averages 1 to 3 million concurrent users at any one time!

There are some exceptionally cheap game deals on there now and then, but if a game is not on special it can sometimes cost more than a physical copy

You can add non-steam games to the portal and launch everything through the same interface, which gives you:

- A friends list where you can see who's playing what, and send them messages.
- Voice comms with friends/groups.
- In-game steam overlay (shift-tab), which gives you an in-game web browser, friends list interface, etc.

Highly recommended!

Re: My 1st Mission "Diplomatic Confrontations Part 1"

June 04 2011
I enjoyed the mission... I really liked the environments, especially the Andorian ground had a nice feel and look to it!

Noticed one problem in that Ambassador Kirik can sometimes be killed by grenades or area of effect weapons during the fire fight on the bridge of the Klingon ship, making it impossible to continue.

I had the same problem on my mission, and had to move the NPC to a safer area. Apparently they're working on incorprating an "invulnerable" option for contacts in the Foundry, but it won't be released for a while :(

THANK YOU for finding the typos for me, lol. I went crazy going through every text box looking for these phantom typos that people mentioned in the reviews... I forgot all about the button text =) Truly awesome of you to post them for me!

Also, I'm really glad you enjoyed the mission! Thanks for the awesome comments!

My new favourite mission!

To be honest I was a little worried that a gay-focussed mission might come across badly, as something made purely for its in-your-face novelty-value, but that wasn't the case at all.

The story was amazing, your usage of the foundry was top-notch, and it had the right amount of combat, to keep it interesting without getting repetitive.

Well done Voleron, that was an awesome job!

I would demand more, but that must have taken you ages, so I wouldn't blame you for taking a break!

I spotted a couple of typos, hopefully you'll be able to find them:

"Starfleet! Your Capatain Wolf is responsible..."

(Button text) "I'll beam down doctors to help your woudned"

Well whatever Atari's "real" reason is for offloading Cryptic, it isn't loss of profits. Crypit have made them a fortune! Sounds a like a money laundering operation to me..........

Steam Group?!

June 04 2011
Personally, I love Steam, and run all my games through it (even ones I bought separately). The community features are pretty nice, and you can see which of your friends are playing which games and when...

With that in mind, is there any chance we could get an official Stonewall group made?

It'd let us see who's currently online and what they're playing, as well as make it much easier to recruit extra people for STFs, etc, since you can msg them even when they're not in a game. :cheer:

Of course, if I'm the only one that uses Steam then maybe it won't be that useful. :P
