Re: The Torchwood thread

August 16 2011
I'm not a big fan of the direction this torchwood is taking, it stresses me and upsets me, but it is torchwood and it is Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper, so I'll keep watching it.

I was wondering when they'd bring in incineration as soon as I saw the splat-man that somehow was not incinerated by his own blast and when they shot down the helicopter. It also made me wonder why they didn't try to see why they couldn't just take out the brain and put it into deep freeze. After all, if it is the body that is destroyed and impossible to repair, and yet every cell carries on living; it stands to reason that the best way to alleviate the constant pain of people who have suffered terrible trauma would be to remove their brain and put it into a deep freeze until a technology can be created to clone them a new body or build them a new robotic body (Yikes! Cybermen!) Brains / heads are much easier to store and catalogue, as well. Once the head/brain has been placed into the deep freeze, the remaining body could be incinerated (transformed from living tissue into carbon) or dissolved in acids (reduced to their component chemicals... (Soylent Green is people! It's peeeeeeepullllll!!))

Also: Brain death? So every cell carries on living regardless of the circumstances.... Except brain cells? After all, brain death occurs when the brain cells, starved of oxygen, actually die. They actually mentioned on a couple of instances that some people are now just vegetables or are brain dead. That seems to go contraflow to what they've been saying the entire time. I understand that that is just part of the BBC sci-fi package and I normally ignore it, but in this show it bothers the heck out of me.

I figure replying to this works as opposed to creating a new thread. I applied to be in the Fleet- er Guild on the TOR site. I had forgotten that Stonewall would be in TOR as well. :)

I think they want to appeal to others from outside the Dr Who fanbase and don't want to alienate them but they will have to mention it soon due to Captain Jack's immortality.

I agree it has got better and better although the end of the last episode made me so uncomfortable (in a good way).

I met Eve Myles a few weeks ago (she lives down the road) and she is lovely. I've known her from Welsh dramas for about 10 years, way before Torchwood, and always been a fan.

Re: The Torchwood thread

August 15 2011
So I voiced my trepidation early on that Miracle Day just seemed to be missing something to truly be "Torchwood." Especially after the second episode. But week after week, the show seems to be getting better and better. Being a little squeamish, some of the scenes have been hard to watch... but damn if it isn't gripping television!

Really bummed about the new record-holder for being a member of the Torchwood team for the shortest amount of time served. That said, as soon as Rex started explaining the Modules from within, I called what they were!

The only minor niggling complaint I have is I still wish there was SOMETHING that gave a nod to the fact that this existed in the Dr. Who universe. Hell, off topic but still true... I'm still waiting for the Matt Smith Dr. Who to provide some indication he exists in the same universe that the David Tennant Dr. Who existed it. Not one "nostalgia" guest star in 2 seasons!

It sounds like beta invites are going out to guilds for Phase II testing. It is my understanding that guild leaders are being contacted and it is up to them who in their guild will join them in beta.

Source was dev's twitter feed and SWTOR Community forum on Phase II.

Last night @4ID, @cubNKY2000, @captainLeBel, @elphaboy, @greenlightracer, and myself (@six-of-nine) ran consecutive Borg STF missions.

@greenlightracer had to go after Infected and The Cure, then @captainLeBel took his place for KA. At no point did a single science officer join our team.

I had not yet done that, but also under the name "Elikal" I applied to Knights of Stonewall on the official website. I am not sure, am I supposed to do something else? ^^

Just want to make sure I do everything right. :D
