New Info: NO Same Gender Romance Arcs confirmed!

August 22 2011
On Gamescon in a new interview from August 19th 2011, a Bioware dev confirmed there are NO same gender romance arcs in SWTOR.

See Video here:

Question after 2:45 Min.

Guys, I am really angry and unsettled by this. Personally I am strongly inclined to cancel my preorder and boycott SWTOR, as much as it hurts me. But I wanted to hear your statements about this, what we shall do?

Please all look into this quickly.

Empire Faction Guild Creation

August 22 2011
It looks like the Lords of Stonewall has still not been created on the official TOR site. Is this still planned? It would be great to group with the fleet in both factions of TOR.

I'm very excited about the game as well. Funny, I'm going to start out as a Smuggler (not sure on the specialization yet) for most of the same reasons you have noted. Come on who doesn't like the fastest ship in the galaxy and one that can hide many secrets. :)

Thou a Trooper is really looking appealing. Thankfully we have a couple of months to figure things out.

I will eventually play a jedi to see the story lines for those guys as well.

Love huttball! That looks like a hoot and a howler.

I'm so excited for Huttball, especially after watching the gameplay video from Gamescom. It just looks so fun! The Alderaan warzone looks pretty cool too, even though most people don't seem too excited about it. From what I've seen of the map, I think it'll be interesting. I'm sure I'll spend a ton of time PvPing.

I still haven't decided what class I'm going to roll first. For a while I was thinking Jedi Knight, and now I'm seriously considering a trooper (big guns, explosions, and Jennifer Hale as the female trooper voice? Yes please!). Although, after seeing the Huttball gameplay, I'm also considering a smuggler - that flashbang + groin kick was seriously great. Eventually I'll level every class, it's just so hard to figure out which to do first (or maybe that's just me).

Looking for Faithful Companions for SWTOR

August 22 2011
I am posting this thread to see who is as amped up as I am for the upcoming release of SWTOR. By the time comes out I hope to get to know my fellow Star Wars lovers more and hopefully craft an elite team with which to PVP and quest with.

As my staus says at the moment I can't wait to play Huttball. That is the single coolest PVP warzone I have seen ever!

I plan on starting off with a Gunslinging Smuggler. This is for two reasons. The first being that Han Solo is my hero just for the fact that he can run with Jedi but never has to live up to their high standards. He gets the job done! The second reason is due to gaming logistics. Let's face it everyone at some point has wanted to be Jedi and I am sure a good majority of the starting players are doing just that.

So hit me up in this thread or private messages to get to know me more and I look forward to playing this game with everyone!

Re: No same-gender romances in SWTOR.

Lucky I have all of the romance I need in my life. I also am fortunate that my fiance' wants to play this game with me. To those who aren't as lucky yet I say play the game as you would any game.

Would you stop playing Zelda just because you rescue a princess and not a prince...even though the elf man is clearly gay? No.

May the Force be with us all!

They've certainly created an issue out of this. It does seem odd to go to the effort of introducing romance and then only allowing it in restricted ways.

The trouble is, if they are really reluctant, but later bow to demand, I can half imagine them saying "oh alright we'll introduce it, but only on these servers."

Will avoiding romance completely effect the gameplay? Would it place your character at a disadvantage?

Planning on starting out with a Jedi of some kind then maybe roll a Smuggler. Sith for the Force Lightning has me drooling though.

Re: Oh What Class to Play???

Being that I have an incurable case of altitis, I'll be playing an agent (purely for the spiffy ship), the trooper and the bounty hunter.

It rather bothers me that you are assigned a ship and a side based on your class. I would rather like to be a bounty hunter that works for whomever pays the most, republic or sith. I wouldn't mind playing a rank and file trooper in the sith empire's army, and it would be nifty to consider that the empire also has the equivalent of agents. I also rather think that, as a smuggler, one would be outside of both sides. Instead we have smugglers who... what, smuggle for the republic? (Unlike the little video they released of the smuggler being held by the jedi for suspicion of smuggling.) It boggles me that we don't have a group of aligned classes that allow you to choose a side and then the non-aligned classes (bounty hunter and smuggler) that operate outside of the conflict (outside, yet affected by).

Re: The Torchwood thread

August 21 2011
I really really liked this latest episode, though I'm beginning to wonder if they're going a bit over the top with all of the love scenes. I suppose that, since they're on a pay channel, they're going a bit bananas with it; but just because you can doesn't necessarily mean you should.

Those people in the incinerator could have been people who have broken their necks or have suffered extreme brain damage which normally would kill them but has now just turned them into vegetables.

They would just be vegetables, yet aware of everything. Horrible thought

Early on they established that there was "brain death" when the woman whose husband kept strangling her over and over turned her into a vegetable. The biggest problem I have with that is that they also established that, even after being separated from the body, people's cells aren't dying. If cells aren't dying, then the lack of oxygen to the brain or lack of blood to the brain should not be causing a vegetative state, they made that clear enough when they cut snap crackle and pop's head off. He'd long since lost all the blood in his body, as well as suffered enough of a shockwave to liquefy his brain; but he was clearly not in a vegetative state. As I said previously, normally I don't like to nitpick Doctor Who or Torchwood, but something about this series just begs me to. (The only other time I'd ever nitpicked either was with the Cyber-woman episode of Torchwood, which was just so silly it beggared belief.)

Aldente, thank you! I'll check that sight out and like others have said I'll probably create one of each evetually. :)

A smuggler who is a healer,,,I'm liking that. :) I eventually end up playing a healer - WoW - Holy Priest, Rift - Warden.
