The current film series is still going strong, with Abrams preparing to start production on his second Star Trek film early next year.

What the hell? They starting the next film, next year? What's taking so long? The first film was a huge hit, you'd think they'd be a bit quicker to start making some more money of the franchise.

I heard Simon Pegg (Scotty) on the radio months ago and he said they were starting filming in October this year. But you know these things are always delayed.

I've read reasons about why it has taken so long and they all seem to go for the idea that they didn't want to rush out a second sequel to make money and it not be very good. They wanted to take time to develop a really solid script.

But you know ... it is taking far too long! :(

I'd love a new series!

The teaser for the series:
If evil wore the face of a hero, would you recognize it? If freedom came in the likeness of your oppressors, would you accept it? If you were your own enemy, who would be victorious?”

Maybe this means it'll flip around the way we look at good vs evil in the Alpha Quadrant and have a new outlook on the Federation. I'm sure it's changed a lot after years at war with multiple parties.

From the article...
An AfterElton.com story published earlier this year suggested that Foster’s project would involve two openly gay characters — a male lead character and a secondary female character — but Foster did not go into details about the characters in the more recent interview.

Hellz Yeah! Maybe gays will finally be included in Star Trek Cannon!

I'd love any sort of new Star Trek but there's one thing that bothers me...

The series is highly energized with a much younger cast

We already have the Abrams Star Trek (which I loved) with the young cast. Why do we need to go younger with a new series? I actually quite like seeing fully grown adults commanding star ships it's much more realistic and they tend to carry more realistic problems.

But to be honest, I'd take anything :)

God... Highly energised with a much younger cast... Dawson's Moon? Risa Hills 90210? No spank you.

I like the Titan books, but I would also prefer to see it set far enough in the future to make it new and fresh. I wish them luck I'd love to see another series on TV since it seems like all the good scifi currently on tv is getting canceled.

Eh, I'd much rather have a new cast and set far enough in the future that things have a fresh, new feeling to them. I'm thing the TNG era has been mined dry.

Possible New Star Trek TV Series

August 24 2011
Since the cancellation of Enterprise, there have been several half-baked efforts to bring Star Trek back to TV. However, one producer has what seems to be the most fleshed-out idea yet, and is preparing to pitch it to CBS.

David Foster Preparing to Pitch New 'Star Trek' Series

Thoughts? I like the idea that it will continue into the future of the current timeline. Don't get me wrong, I love JJ Abrams' film and interpretation of the TOS era, but a lot of the series' more interesting characters were introduced afterwards.

Too bad it will also likely invalidate STO's story. :P

Well....

After much trial and hardship and frustration I have finally obtained a viable pre-order code from Gamestop. I'm just going to vent a little bit here:

My boyfriend's best friend is a manager at Gamestop so I asked if he would pre-order the collectors edition for me and use his discount. I did not get the code from him for about 2 weeks because he was expecting it to be emailed to him when it had actually printed out on the receipt. When I finally got it, it and input it into the site; it only showed that I had the standard edition ordered so I had them generate another code for me. This one showed the CE was on pre-order but when I tried to complete the registration it said the code had already been used. The third code said the same thing. I found out from the forums that I wouldn't get any of the CE in game items until i input my actual game code from the CE box itself at launch and the it didn't matter what my pre-order code said I had so I went with my original code which worked.

I don't blame Gamestop for this, it was Bioware's fault not getting valid pre-order codes to them. I had tried emailing them but they just gave me the run-around.

But suffice to say I am now registered! Yay!

Re: No same-gender romances in SWTOR.

I've been playing mmo's since 2003 and in each of them we only had flirts no romance.

As I've stated I'm disheartened that BioWare is only introducing ogra into the game and
for now excluding SGRA's. I'm hopeful that down the road this will change and I'll
get to participate in the romance arc as a gay man.
But if not I can pretend...isn't that what a lot of mmo's experience is about?
Pretending to be a frost mage that can freeze your enemy in their
tracks or a cleric that saves your companions from the death rift that just opened up.

As I get older I realize that things will change. Yes they are slow and gradual changes
but change eventually happens. Heck look at our community in the 70's and 80's
we've come forward by leaps on bounds.

So go to the SW:TOR forums, make a post under the topic (it's held in the general forums) and
vote on it. The thread has been re posted over 10 times now and about 95% of the posters
are for SGRA's. I visit it every day and if I can vote I do and I make a post. That is one
way to let BioWare know you are unhappy and hopefully this feature will be added down
the road if not by release.

Although... If, for example, I were selected for beta and playing it had me really loving it; I may just go ahead and pre-order it.

Not saying I have or have not. Not sure if I'd be allowed to say if I were,
which I'm not confirming. >.>

That had me chuckling this morning. I think you can say your in Beta you
just can't give out details about the game and game play.
But I like your approach. :)

Hmnn, I think for me its more important to be able to romance the gender I'm interested in, than play the same gender as myself. Unless there was a really cool companion, like Jack from ME2, she was friggen awesome!!

Well for me, the romance aspect of the game is minor. I'd rather enjoy the whole game as a female character than enjoy only the romance aspect as a male character. And to be honest, that might not even be guaranteed when it comes to me, lol. I rolled a male Shepard in ME2 after I finished with my femShep so I could romance Miranda and I ended up loathing him. My brain just kept going, "He's not the real Shepard! Quit hitting on Miranda!" Needless to say, he didn't make it very far.

Given that, my disappointment at the decision to exclude SGRAs isn't based so much on that fact that my character won't be able to romance her lady companions (which is ultimately in itself a minor complaint), but the fact that in creating hetero-only romance arcs, others are explicitly excluded.

lol I considered playing a male toon for like, half a second. Then I remembered that every time I've tried playing a male toon in any game, I get bored with him in under an hour. All female toons for me, as usual.

Honestly, I can't see why they're including romance arcs into the game at all. It's a MMO after all, who wants to start a romance with a pre-programmed computer sprite instead of a real per-

Nevermind, I forgot the times in which we live.

But seriously, folks, change can't always happen overnight. Soon enough, being homosexual will be as (pardon the word) insignificant as being heterosexual. Something not worth mentioning because, well, who cares? TV and film characters will have same sex spouses and it won't be provocative. Video games will have romance arcs where the only controversial object of your romance will be a space ship or a car.

Then, maybe, someday in the future, we will see an Oriental (yeah I said Oriental, it's what me, my mother and my grandmother (GRHS) call ourselves. It's what a lot of Orientals call ourselves.) playing the lead in a TV show or film who isn't a martial artist or mathematician and he will be as accepted as a white or black man.

What? Oh come on, a guy can dream, can't he?
