The general beta I didnt get till hours later. Lucky I read on forums and rsvp'd before all that. Don't get me started on americans thinking we are backward. Did you see the amazing race ep where they went to aust and they had subtitles for ALL the locals!! Gah

The do that for Irish and Scottish English speakers as well. I can allays understand what they are saying. Then again I'm from Brooklyn and we speak kind of funny too =P

But I like the brooklyn accent. I'm worked with alot of tourists and people from all over, Lithuania anyone? Most of the time its not that hard to understand anyone. The hardest to follow, for me at least, is the welsh.

Is there going to be a server wide chat channel for all the GLBTQ guilds?

isn't the a name for the Alliance of the GLBTQ guilds?

hmmm maybe set up a site for the alliance guilds... I feel an idea coming on...

In my experience alliance websites are always pretty dead as everyone favours their own particular guild and as such I don't think it would be worth the time and effort to set one up.

As for the alliance chat room, if it's possible it would be worth doing but they don't work like normal chat rooms in my experience. There's a reason people join different guilds, it's because they have different rules and different play styles. Throwing everyone into the mixer together would create a whole load of problems and some "You can't tell me what not to say" drama.

Alliance chat rooms are good if you can keep them to important information like "KoS raid need 3 more" or "Sith attacking western gate!!!"

I love alliances but nobody should be expecting a utopian society just because we are all GBLT :)

I got my email at 9.28am your time..check all your folders etc. As I didnt preorder on day one I dont expect to get an invite for a couple of days anyways :(

Haha, you're not alone, I've been checking swtor.com religiously for the past couple of years. I have my alarm set up for 5AM (7EST) so I can check my email, as they've said that's when they'll send out notices for early access. We'll see!

I was wondering .. maybe we can assist them with raising the guild charter cost quickly..

It would be a nice thing to do. A single character will have that much cash by the time he/she finishes the starter planet, so it shouldn't be too onerous to pull together the funds across multiple folks. Reaching out an offer to help build funds would be a nice gesture.

I second that notion! :P

Looks like one of the larger guilds on there will be "The Older Gamers". I read some stuff about them a while back when I was searching for a guild. Seems to me they are a very respectable, mature group.

I've been in their guild in a few different games. Very nice and well organised.

Gotta admit that some folks' concerns about sharing a server with Taint are a little disappointing to read.

:(

Yes, Taint (Empire) & Rough Trade (Republic) are one and the same. Yes, the launch membership is largely comprised of folks from the Rough Trade Gaming Community's established presence in other games, including The Spreading Taint in WoW, Rough Trade in Rift, etc. Although these various guilds share similar core ideals, each has its own leadership and charts its own course. If interested, here is the SWTOR guild's charter:

Taint & Rough Trade Charter

I've really enjoyed my time with The Spreading Taint in WoW and have been particularly impressed with the very bright, devoted, and professonal leadership. The sheer size and diversity of the guild can be a bit overwhelming, but it's also opened my eyes to some things. Unfortunately, as with any microcosm of the LGBT community at large, there will always be individuals who bring their own drama.

The Spreading Taint leadership speaks highly of its Alliance-side sister guild, The Stonewall Family. I actually stumbled across Knights of Stonewall while searching for whether The Stonewall Family was expanding to SWTOR. I was so impressed with your website and community, I decided to kind of lurk here and hoped I might bump into and adventure with some of you in game [strike]whenever I tired of kicking Jedi butt and taking names[/strike] errr whenever I played my Republic characters.

There's something cool about DKP. If a new guy just shows up to a raid he can still win something if other people don't want to spend a lot of DKP on it or they already have it. And DKP is a good reminder to attend a raid that you signed up for.

I prefer a DKP system based on attendance and time in raid. Biggest issue ive seen over the last few years is people signing up for raids and not showing which just screws it for everyone.

quick secret to getting a purple blade...find an item on sale or for credits and simply remove the crystal by hitting cntrl + right click. it till open the item up and you can click on the item(s) you want to remove. then simply repeat on the object that you want to add it too and tada! purple lightsaber..

well it was at least in beta :P

My AoC guild, Rogue Angels, had a guild point system for raiding. So if you had raided for a year, you could use your banked points to get that final armor piece. Was a good way to reward the people who were regular raiders.

I'm in favor of this kind of system as well. Having raided in a few different games, I hate raiding when this wasn't used and some new guy just showed up for a couple raids and got a piece that I had been working for months to get.

There should definitely be an open discussion about how points are earned (ie. showing up on time, downing certain bosses, etc).

I think it went something like, 25 points for showing up to booked raid, and 15 points for each boss downed. The highest tier of raid loot was abit higher costing. This system was fine, until you had some people who had years of points and a fully geared main, and then used those points for their alts and blocked your main from getting loot... so yeah I'm not a huge fan. I hope there is a token system instead.
