There is also a nice park area called Garden of Equality in the plaza to the one side.

I don't see how we could choose any place besides the "Garden of Equality," personally. Great suggestion!

I believe you can get to Coruscant without your ship as well. The Seneate PLaze has plenty of space for a picture and lookes nice as well. Besides if everyone is bringing their mains they should at least be level 10. The shuttles from the starting planets will take you to the fleet at any level, and the shuttle to Coruscant should do the same.

There is also a nice park area called Garden of Equality in the plaza to the one side.

I wish I could be there next weekend.

One thing we still need to decide before I create the event on the Events section of the site is the locations. I've not played every character type so I'm not sure what is the best place on each side to hold these events. We need a location for as many Republic charcters to get together as possible and another location for Empire characters.

Since there are different starting planets on each side, it seems that we will have to pick a location that is the first place both types of charcters can go to, and unfortunately that means that only characters who have got a ship will be able to attend. This is one of the reasons we waited so long before arranging a guild pic.

I think the Republic Fleet (Republic) and Imperial Fleet (Empire) will be the most logical choices. These are the central flow points on each side for character progression. Also, people are able to access them before quests lead them there, but not all can go at level 1, if any can. I'm still testing this, though. People will just have to know how to manually get there if their quests have not taken them there yet. Here's a quick rundown of how to get to the shuttle points by planet:

Republic:
Tython - north hall on the second level of the Jedi Temple
Ord Mantell - southeast hall of Fort Garnik Spaceport

Empire:
Hutta - north hall of the Jiguuna Spaceport
Korriban - southern path leading east from the Sith Academy

I hope this helps!

How To: Join for SW:TOR

February 25 2012
Welcome to Stonewall Alliance and/or Stonewall Coalition!

https://www.stonewallgaming.net/photos/134480https://www.stonewallgaming.net/photos/134482

After you've created an account on the website, please ensure you have filled out as much of your profile as you're comfortable with.

Now you just need to apply. To do this you will need to start a new thread in the Start Here section of the forums (the same section this post is in) and introduce yourself. Your introduction can be as long or as short as your comfortable with and can include as much or as a little information as you like.

If you're struggling to know what to say then perhaps you could try and include some of the following:

  • Say hello, tell us about yourself,
  • What are your interests?,
  • What other games and MMO's have you played?, Is this your first one?,
  • Are you a star wars fan?, Do you normally prefer something else?,
  • Why does this guild appeal to you?
  • What are you most looking forward to? PvE? PvP? Lightsabering?
  • How did you find us?
  • And anything else you can think of :)

Make sure to include your SWTOR account name in your introduction & any character names you wish to be invited.
This will allow us to approve your membership and get you invited in-game.

If you're struggling to get an invite in-game then please contact one of our officers or ask in the discord chat channel #alliance and any member should be able to invite you.

This "application" is all you need to do to become a member. The first 14 days are your "trial period" and after the 14 days you'll be promoted to a full member.

THE GUILDS ARE CURRENTLY ON "Satele Shan" (US PvE) SERVER.

--

If you're not joining Stonewall Alliance or Stonewall Coalition, perhaps because you're a member of another Guild, but still wish to be apart of our community then please reply to the Visitors Register. Simply tell us who you are, if you're a member of another guild and why you wish to join us.

Please be aware that we do not have an "exclusive" policy, if you wish to remain part of your previous guild but also want a character or two in Stonewall Alliance or Coalition, then feel free to join by starting an application thread as described above and then let us know you're a member of another guild by signing the visitor register.

--

There is a lot of handy information and helpful guides in our Info Center which may help you get started.

Thanks for reading and if you have any problems feel free to contact one of the officers, we'll be happy to help in anyway we can!

Re: KOS/LOS/Custom Channel problems?

February 25 2012
I've also been told that some people have been "kicked" from the Kos channel even though they have not subscribed to any other private channels. This only seems to have happened in the last week, so it may be something to do with Bioware fixing those channels.

I'd like to echo Varel's statement that we would never "kick" anyone from the Kos or Los channels, in fact we couldn't even if we wanted to because the channel admin is not yet working, lol.

I'd just ask that everyone, when they log in, check what channels they have visable on their chat window, and if need be, rejoin our social channels.

Guild Social Event - Pics and Character Comp

February 25 2012
Hi everybody,

We will be holding our first Guild Social event next Saturday the 3rd of March. The event will be a chance for us to get a group picture of all our main characters on the Republic and Empire side. We will also be having our first character competition, this first one being "Hottest Character", lol.

So bring along your favourite character to be part of the guild pic, and if you want to enter the Hottest Character competition, a solo picture will be taken of your character and posted in the forums for us all to vote on.

The event will be split into 4 individual events to allow everyone to take part, but you are encouraged to attend any and all events.

Republic social 1 - 12 noon PST, 3pm EST, 8pm GMT.
Empire Social 1 - 1pm PST, 4pm EST, 9pm GMT.
Republic Social 2 - 7pm PST, 10pm EST, 3am GMT(Sunday)
Empire Social 2 - 8pm PST, 11pm EST, 4am GMT(Sunday)

One thing we still need to decide before I create the event on the Events section of the site is the locations. I've not played every character type so I'm not sure what is the best place on each side to hold these events. We need a location for as many Republic charcters to get together as possible and another location for Empire characters.

This is one of the reasons we waited so long before arranging a guild pic.

Please reply to this post if you know a perfect location for all the characters of one side to get together for a guild pic. Please note that it doesn't have to be a location all characters can get to, just one location for Republic and one for Empire that most characters can get to at as low a level as possible.

KOS/LOS/Custom Channel problems?

February 22 2012
Hey guys,

I thought I'd share with all of you a little tidbit that was brought to our attention on the Captains group. It's been mentioned that some people may be noticing that when they log in they aren't joining the KOS/LOS or other custom channels. We think we know why now!

First off let me say that We are not booting anyone from these channels! So that's the good news. The issue seems to be that SW:TOR only seems to remember 2 custom channels on each of your characters. The channels that it seems to remember I would imagine are the first 2 custom channels you join.

To help remedy this problem, you can leave all of your custom channels then join the 2 most frequently used channels first (one would imagine KOS or LOS would be in the top two). I can't say this will cure everyone's problem, but it should help some of you!

Hope it helps!

My hubby stumbled across some useful bit of advice, particularly for cell phone security: If you use a number or letter more than once in a pin, it makes it more difficult to guess the password or unlock pin by looking at finger smudges or other visual cues.

The glory of working at a financial institution that has an app for smartphones to do your banking, and having time to pick the brain of one of the IT guys within the company who worked on it.

The only time a trick like that wouldn't work would be against a keylogger. My one suggestion might be for whose who are technically savvy check out a service called LastPass, it has a built in password generator (right now only geared to work with websites, but can be used beyond the intended purpose if you're tricky). For use on the PC LastPass is free, but if you want some of the more advanced features it's only $12 for a full year of access.

Re: - HOW TO MAKE A STAR TREK LIKE SECURE PASSWORD -

February 22 2012
I learned a trick to creating strong passwords a few years ago.

Come up with something you are intimately familiar with, then generate the password based on the first letter of each word in a memorable phrase.

For example, if you're a huge fan of Star Trek you might come up with something like "Humans made first contact with Vulcans in 2063".

Your password would then be HmfcwVi2063.

This can work with special characters as well.

WR&DTwmi2362 - William Riker & Deanna Troi were married in 2362 (totally made up the year).

WTRwc#2 - William T. Riker was called #2.

My hubby stumbled across some useful bit of advice, particularly for cell phone security: If you use a number or letter more than once in a pin, it makes it more difficult to guess the password or unlock pin by looking at finger smudges or other visual cues.

There's actually a link in the Holocron section with links.

But, for easy reference, there's actually a Helpful Links in the Welcome Center.
