Perhaps it's time to merge the Knights and Soldiers groups and remove people from Knights that have been offline for say 90 days? I know the split was needed when we were really active but now it might be hurting us. Just a suggestion. Can always split again if/when transfers happen.

its not somewhere new (up by the first charr skill point challenge) but it made for a great shot for my human guardian, with the ruins of a part of the great wall in the background.

Re: Should the guild switch servers?

Let me suggest issues and solutions. Do you think that is more practical?

Issue: KoS has a tiny active player base. High water mark for guild activity is six or seven on at one time, which may last for 20 or 30 minutes a day, before returning to 3 or 4.

Possible solution: Recruit or ally.

Issue: No one in KoS talks, groups, or organizes anything to do together. No one is taking the role of recruiter, or nurturer with any regularity.

Possible solution: ask for a volunteer to see if people want to do flashpoints, help with datacrons, company leveling.

Issue: KoS is too small to do operations, and usually to unpopulated to do flashpoints.

Possible solution: ally with the other guilds we know with a shared channel for grouping.

Issue: there is no active visible leadership in the guild. Yes there are captains who can invite, and Iszabeau maintains the roster and is friendly, but leadership is different from administrating.

Possible solution: recruit someone to perhaps update the gmotd with messages about possible things to do together.

As far as my comments about Zepari, my point was KoS on SWToR has no active acting leader. We have administrators. It was in no way meant to call him out. His reasons for not being on are his own. I do distinctly recall him saying he was done with actively acting as a leader in SWToR.

I am surprised, though, being called out by a person on a forum twice no less, who doesn't know how helpful and friendly I've been in guild, and doesn't plan to ever play the game they're looking to influence and control. Telling someone not to discuss something is insulting. I say this to both you and Iszabeau who called me out privately and demoted me. You can disagree with them and say why, but I for one am not used to passive aggressive punishment for making a suggestion or asking a question. And for someone who doesn't play a game to actively try to dictate what would work best for those who do seems more about control and less about constructive problem solving. It's like Queen Elizabeth telling Australia what their laws and behavior should be. I appreciate you take an active part in the forums and administration. But how does that materially affect anyone on SWToR directly that they would know? I brought it up again, because I was surprised and disappointed at the tone of the initial censoring reply with both people who sent them.

I respect that KoS has WAY more history outside of the silly Star Wars game, but I'm just talking about SWToR. There is a difference between being a leader and being an administrator. If the leadership isn't helping in game, I don't see know how many will feel any advantageous effect. And if the leadership isn't even playing the game? Well that's just silly.

Again I'm disappointed with me being demoted for asking a question on a forum. I didn't care about being a Captain, other than it allowed me to be helpful to others. The demotion was just disappointing. I have really tried to not make this a flounce post, but in the end I guess it is 'cause there really is no reason for me to stick around KoS if there's no in-game community currently, and history tells me no one will nurture one in the future.

Maybe others who actually play like it as is, don't find the issues I brought up to be relevant, but I'm hoping they'll be of some use, otherwise I've just typed into the ether.

A "family" talks and helps each other. Sometimes families grow through marriages. Sometimes they're better off when a cranky uncle just leaves them alone. Imma go now and yell at kids and tell them to get off lawns.

Thanks so much for your review and support, Halish. And thanks for the constructive criticism. :)

Response to Halish
I will do another spell check (and have already changed bits and pieces in my current version). Some things just get unnoticed, cause there is so much dialog in the mission. I sometimes mix up "you're" and "your" - especially when I type fast. One of the few things that I hate about the English language ("their" and "they're" is about the same). ;)

I see the problem with short sentences. I always try to make sentences clear and easy, but I might've gone overboard in some instances. Have already changed some dialogs in my internal build to improve their flow.

Update
I'm currently working on the Docking Ring map and have it almost finished. Habitat Ring and Mission Debriefing to go and the mission will be complete. Can't wait to work on part 2!

Reviews so far
Most feedback has been quite positive and I'm really glad. Me is a happy boy! :)

However, one reviewer slammed the mission for political correctness and me forcing my personal views onto others. He's raging about me promoting stuff in a game he pays money for... Mission accomplished, I guess. B)
In all seriousness: I'm a bit saddened by this response. It just happens that one of the male characters talks about his male fiancé; and that the Bajoran Vedek is onboard the Ratosha because she wants to lead their wedding ceremony. That's not even a huge plot point. I'm neither forcing anything upon someone, nor am I actively promoting same-sex marriage - they are just talking about in a sentence or two.

I'm still looking for feedback. If anyone's willing to help out, I'd be more than happy!

Halish hasn't logged into SWTor in 146 days, so I don't know if they know what's going on with our crew (that's the longest inactive w/o being gkicked). Our guild leader hasn't been logged in in over a month on either side. When I asked Zepari about it I believe he said he plays in another guild, and had had enough of the work it takes to be a gleader in STO. I totally dig that, but it leaves a need for active leadership of some sort, in my opinion.

I was an officer in SW:ToR before the game launched and I helped get things up and running but the game simply wasn't for me and I stepped back before my free month ended. I still care about Knights of Stonewall and I try and help out in anyway I can, despite not logging into the game.

There is NO WAY Zepari told you he's playing in another guild, you must have mis-understood him. I'm not willing to discuss why Zepari isn't around at the moment but I will say this; real life comes first and always will. Zepari cares for Knights of Stonewall more than you could ever know and when he's able to return, he'll return, until then we have to continue.

I asked you in another thread not to discuss guild mergers and yet you bring it up again, I wouldn't mind as such but it's the only solution you have presented for the lack of activity in SW:ToR. A guild merger isn't a solution, it's simply giving our member base to another guild (one which doesn't operate with the same policies we do) unless you think they're going to move all of their players into Knights of Stonewall? no? didn't think so.

I want to keep the discussion focused on Knights of Stonewall like it has been so far in this thread. Knights of Stonewall may be quiet at this moment but it's not a lost cause and the move to a new more popular server will give us a chance to pick ourself's up, dust ourself's off and move forward as a family.

Poaching is active recruitment of another guilds members and If you choose to leave us and go to them, that's not poaching that's one members choice but if a member of another guild actively contacted you and tried to convince you to make a move that's what poaching is and that's what was happening with "such and such" guild.

We've had a lot of set backs in Knights of Stonewall, there's no hiding away from that. I'd only ask that we all come together and try and improve the situation not just list what's wrong and suggest we delete the guild.

Big strides can be achieved.

I've been off work for several weeks due to a medical issue so I've been able to log on during various times during the day and the activity level is depressing. The server is DEAD, I see maybe 5 people in our guild on at one time, at most 5-10 people per planet.

ALL the chat channels are dead. I've said hello in guild, KoS and the PRIDE channel and rarely get a response.

I'm at lvl 36 and running missions solo on dead planets with zero chatter in the chat box makes me want to log off.

This used to be VERY active group but it's on life support in SWTOR.

Re: Should the guild switch servers?

June 13 2012
I don't really know what folks want from KoS/LoS, but I'd like a guild that talks, groups, and helps each other, and honestly in SWToR that doesn't happen much. As Alf/Yoko/Liz/Angee I chatter a lot, god only knows, but only about 3 other people do as well. In the months I've been in the guild I've never ever seen a group form in chat for a FP that I can recall.

In another thread I asked about the possibility of guild mergers; I should have also proffered the idea of guild alliances. The response from Halish was:

"Guild mergers with other guilds isn't an avenue we're going to explore and the discussion should remain focused on our guild." - Halish

The response from Itervlet was demotion from officer to member. Really? For bringing up a topic for discussion? I'm stunned.

A guild can provide four main benefits: conversation, grouping, general help, and progression. Which of these does KoS provide? I asked my initial question to be helpful, and pose it again here as well in the same vein. I wanted to see opinions about whether people think there's a need to consolidate to have enough people to get the most out of the game.

But after getting my note about betrayal from an officer for posting a question on the forums without talking to them first I'm not sure what I'll do right now. I didn't know that I should ask permission before posting an honest question. I didn't expect to get punished. I'm trying not to be negative in tone, but it's kinda hard after that.

I was told that such-and-such guild was poaching our members. They're not poaching. Our members aren't really being given much reason to stick around. A high water mark for guildies online is typically 4 people Republic, 1 or 2 Imperial. I want to solve which I think is an issue, but perhaps this group prefers it kinda stays as it is, but if it does, honestly KoS/LoS are gonna just get quieter and quieter.

Re: Star Trek and Transgenderism

June 13 2012
I think that, in keeping the general views of Gene Roddenbury's utopian future, odds are that transgender, as well as those of sexual orientation, would be dealt with in a manner befitting human dignity. However, as a television program airing in modern times, the stories that the staff choose to tell are just as important as the world that exists in the universe of Star Trek. That they have yet to include this element of diversity is unfortunate and an area where the biases of the times are at odds with the utopian futurist vision of Star Trek.

That message is part of what drew me to Star Trek (once I was old enough to understand it and not be terrified of the Horta). However, I think that the stories that are told are more useful for those in need of learning their lessons than preaching to the choir. That is, those of minority groups see their experience reflected in the story which brings benefit on many levels. Those of majority groups may actually learn something and help to contribute to a public culture of tolerance.

This is the second thread like this today, I don't mean to be "bitchy" about it but just take a glance round the forums before you create a thread and join in the discussions already in motion.

If you could please keep all discussion on server merges here: /forums/holocron/43984-re-should-the-guild-switch-servers?limit=6&start=6#44053

Thanks a bunch :)

Halish

Edit: Also in reply to your other questions:

2. Guild merges aren't an option for us right now.

3. You need to keep an eye on this forum and a post will be made when an opportunity comes up for you to progress to higher ranks within the guild.

swtor server merge, promotions, guild merge ???

June 13 2012
hi all i have a few questions.
1. does anyone know what the deal is with the swtor merging of servers?? will the jekk jekk be moved ect ect.

2. there is a little talk with the remaining guild membes in game of a guild merge with rough trade and a couple of other gay guilds (cannot remember the names, is there anything we can do to make a more populious guild. i love this guild and especially a "gay" guild in game but as of late there has not been no more than 3 guildies online at a time. i am to blame as well and not have been playing as much, but have been busy with real life crap.

3. can i get a promotion from my member stat. i have seen a few players with some ??? names (i husky jedi by the name of bear, yeah i followed him. dont judge.:)) that i woulh have totally invited and possibly woulf have been a great asset.

thank you all

Played through this today and really enjoyed it.

The dialogue is wrote in a way which makes you feel like you're commanding your ship and crew rather than your bridge officers commanding you (which it's like in most other missions) with a lot of optional dialogue options.

I thought the mission was going to end only for it to kick into a whole different direction. I'm eagerly awaiting part two! You did a great job! :)

I do think you may need to give it a once over to check the dialogue. I noticed three occasions when "you're" or "your" was used when the opposite should have been used. There was also a spelling mistake early on when the

And there may have been a few moments where you had wrote a lot of short sentences. Comma's may have made the dialogue flow better.

Other than that I thought it was great!

"The crying game" was a good work for doing that. The plot did not focus on the trans issues and in fact only introduced it 1/2 way through. Still one of my favourite movies and songs.

Yeah, but the way they established Dil was trans was messed up. And in fact here is one of the issues with the way transness is portrayed in general: If you're transsexual and post-operative, nobody will necessarily know you're trans unless you say so, and yet we always find out because OMG UNEXPECTED GENITALIA, leading to "it's really a " and, not uncommonly, violence.

The last movie I saw where I actually felt like a transgender character was treated half-way decently was The World According to Garp, and even that was problematic in its way. At least John Lithgow made clear in interviews that he chose to play Roberta Muldoon because he wanted to play a woman--suggesting that in his mind there's no doubt to him that trans women are women, full stop. Also, Garp's mother obviously had no problems with trans women given she accepted them at her home, and Garp and his family develops a close relationship with Roberta. Her transness is established early, and aside from some initial awkwardness on Garp's part, it becomes a non-issue quickly and remains one until the end.
