After the USS Sally Ride dropped out of warp to avoid detection by Klingon border patrols, a small group of bridge officers gathered in the conference room for a situation report and strategy session.
The KDF patrols along their fortified border have been increased significantly, and the frontier is being bathed in sensor sweeps so powerful that they could only come from the modified flotilla. These scans are strong enough to sense the Sally Ride even with her energy signature masked, and because the ship's shields are being operated by warp shunt, they can only be raised at impulse. The ship isn't durable enough to rush the blockade, powerful enough to fight the regular patrols, or sneaky enough to evade the modified ships' scans.
The on-duty officers discussed this seemingly insoluble problem at some length, with any number of plans devised and rejected. Finally, they settled on the following: scatter a number of astrometric probes programmed to overload their own communications arrays much like the
deadman switch discovered on the Sally Ride. These single-use comm bursts should be detected by Federation border guards, alerting them to the ship's distress without giving away her position.
This should put Starfleet on alert to assist in the event of a confrontation, or even incite them to engage the border patrols. In any case, the signals ought to scatter the KDF border guards enough for the Sally Ride to attempt an escape past the less well-armed scavenger ships.
In the event that the plan doesn't work, more probes will be loaded with logs detailing the acts of sabotage against the Sally Ride and sent drifting into Federation space. Lieutenant Orenn considers it of paramount importance that Starfleet be notified of the plans to turn the Federation's own transwarp network against it, even if the crew doesn't survive to relate the story themselves.

OOC Notes:We decided to delay the conclusion of the story arc because only a couple of people were able to make it to the event. Unfortunately, this delay might be pretty long: next weekend is Atlanta Pride and I will have neither a reliable internet connection nor a predictable enough schedule to run any events. This means
NO EVENT THIS WEEKEND. We could try this Thursday or next Monday? Let me know if that's a good fit for any of you -- I'm thinking we ought to have at least four for our grand finale, so RSVP!
In any case, the next event is not going to happen in a conference room. :) We're going to need people to shoot phasers, operate probes, put out fires, take evasive action, treat wounded, negotiate with hostile forces, and Sagan only knows what else. So please let me know when you'll be available to man battle stations!
