Check out how many Cartel Coins you may receive!

October 17 2012
Check out how many Cartel Coins you may potentially receive when F2P goes live! You need to log into the SWTOR website and click on "My Account", look to the left and you will see "Cartel Coins" in the list of topics. After clicking on this, the website will display in detail how many Cartel Coins will be credited to your account if you are a subscriber. Now if they'd give some examples of the gear, pets, vehicles, etc you will be able to purchase with these coins and just how much they are going to cost they will have actually been informative but as usual, they are dragging this out to the point of it being painful :pinch: but that's how game developers have decided to always handle any type of information revelation. Sorry, this has always irked me to no end. But at least they are giving us some type of information, I guess....and they probably haven't decided how expensive the items are going to be anyway.

Actually, this would do nicely.

I don't actually pay for our Vent server. It's generously donated by one of our founding members, Bradley1701.

Do you know if it has a REST API? :P

Has anyone tried Jabber? I've heard good things about it from fleet members.

You may want to never use Vent again....

So I was recently forced to try, after much kicking and screaming, Teamspeak 3.0. And holy CRAP was I impressed, suddenly people who'd sounded like a bad radio program came in perfectly clear, and it was SOOO much easier to use, with far more functionality.

So is everyone aware of this, or is this a new development? I now have a private teamspeak server, so I'd be happy to give a demo to anyone who'd like to compare, and I'd encourage people to add their experiences, positive or negative, below.

Here are the advantages I've noticed so far...

1. Cheaper (500 simultaneous seats available for free on full version)
2. Easier to set-up and use, both on client and server side
3. Far superior voice quality (both much clearer AND none of those volume issues so far)
4. More advanced features (avatars, simple file transfer, recording, ...)

If anyone is aware of any reason to prefer vent (besides intertia), I'd love to hear it!

Re: Doff Drive

Brilliant guys, I hadn't even thought of a demand-side solution to the DOFF congestion issue. In fact, after asking my STF buds, it turns out that most of them do this, using the Starbase Project Requirements stowiki page that Nik pointed out in the pre-staging thread!

It might be worth picking some projects that don't need 60 doffs, what I've seen klingon side is lots of projects requiring 60 doffs. That's a lot of doffs for 1000 exp and they are taking days to fill up. When you could do two 25's faster for less doffs same exp plus stuff for the fleet to use to purchase fleet items. Downside is it costs some ore as well I suppose it depends on if fleet members are willing to depart with some ore.

Re: Doff Drive

One thing those of us in leadership roles can do is to keep an eye on which doffs people aren't parting with easily. I personally will avoid slotting anything with green security doff requirements from here on out -- which makes sense, as security contains a lot of pricey doff specialties.

I think it's also notable that there's an overlap in what our current pair of jammed up projects require. One requires green assault squad officers, the other any green security doff (including assault squaddies). Because people have to choose which project to donate assault squad officers to, we're "splitting the vote," and neither project is getting done. So another strategy I think fleet leaders can use is to consciously avoid that kind of overlap in requirements.

When this situation does arise, I think all fleeties can help by prioritizing their resources wisely. The project that requires assault squad officers drops 500 XP and some provisions that we already have in spades, while the project that requires any green security doff (assault squaddies included) drops 1000 XP, advancing the starbase twice as quickly. So it's best for the fleet if everyone puts assault squad doffs into the 1000XP project.

Another thing to keep in mind is that I thiiiiink the different personnel officers are focused in different disciplines. The Andorian officer at the academy, for instance, is more likely to drop red-shirted doffs like the ones we need, if my theory is correct. So if you're going to do reassignment missions (trade in commons for uncommons), use her to improve your chances at the doff the fleet needs.

[Event] Tribble Soccer!

October 16 2012
Please join us for an athletic event for all ages and levels! We'll split up into teams, setup some goals and kick around some tribbles. Feel free to join us on Vent to chat during the event.

The event will be hosted on Stonewall Fleet's Starbase. If you're on attending with an alt, just ask for an invite to the Starbase in fleet chat. Unfortunately, KDF Captains can not dock at Federation Starbases.

The event will be held on October 20th at 3:00 PM EST (12:00 PM PST, 8:00 PM BST).

For those of you that are newer to the game, Tribble Soccer is a fleet event that we've wanted to do since Closed Beta! Originally, K7 was covered in Tribbles and we'd meet up there to kick them around. We often chatted about having some soccer matches on the station, but sadly, they eventually removed the tribbles. Now, with the tribbles on our own Starbase, we can finally have a match!

Re: EC in the fleet bank used on the base....

October 16 2012
Yes, I've noticed that there are several projects stalled in the fleets due to Duty Officer requirements. Using the Fleet ECs would be an easy solution and we'll do that if neccessary, but I'd like to see if we can come up with a better solution. If you have any ideas, reply to my Doff Drive thread.

Yes, unfortunately, everyone ages including the stars and there's only so much you can accomplish with makeup and surgery. Glad to hear you had a great time, I've never seen Pat in concert (actually haven't seen much of anybody live) but love her music. Thanks for sharing! :)

Another idea I used to kick around was a squadren of shuttles and fighters vs one appropriatly geared(for a fair fight) carrier or cruiser.

Yeah, I think that'd be a lot of fun too, but I wonder what the goal would be, to take down the carrier with just the squadrons? I wonder how much of it would just end up fighter vs fighter PvP. Also, from what I remember, the only fighters are available for Zen which would really limit the members who could participate.

Re: Watch and marvel as Space Simulation returns!

It is going to be a while yet alas.

Consider the budget he used on the last games of his. Magnify that by current costs and the pledge system. It would be lucky to get out by late 2013. More likely early 2014.

If the pledges go well then hopefully that will bring in the professional investors to fill the gaps and really get it rolling.

Then hope he does not do the same as he did with Freelancer. ie. Get a big company on board as the budget runs out and step away from it himself. Just imagining Freelancer if it had EVEs player run Economy or could of had sides take space from each other...

Also some concern about how he intends to fund Servers with a single purchase on each title.

But all in all I just want more space games out there so heres hoping Roberts has moved on and we do not get a simple retread of WC or another Cold War in space like Starlancer...

BSG reference seems apt. "All of this has happened before, and will happen again."
