On Conan, Andy Richter did a pretty funny commercial about how you can pay him to come to your house to out you to your family so that you don't have to. It's pretty amazing.

Re: Doctor Who?...

December 20 2012
I'm a fan of the new console and control room as well. Not just for the way it looks, but for the fact that this signals the series is starting a new phase. AS much as I loved the last few seasons with the Ponds, I'm thrilled to be getting a new Companion and a (hopefully) new dynamic with the Doctor.

Gah! Can't wait for the Christmas special! Word is that it is REALLY good!

Cool look! Those stairwells in the back seem to imply another split-level design, which I like. One of the things I really appreciated about the Ponds' TARDIS was that it contained so many different spaces where scenes could happen. Episodes like the one with the Dream Lord just wouldn't have worked as well in one of the old cockpit-only interiors.

First shot of the new "desktop theme" for the Tardis. Like the metallic teal lighting and it seems inspired by the original Enterprise just a bit.

Re: Getting to know you.

December 19 2012
Hello everyone,

My names is Lars and I am 21 years old. I live in the Netherlands.
At the moment I do not have work and I do not go to school, but I am working to be accepted at an IT class. Until then I have some personal issues to solve.

I am a hetero male, but am a supporter of equal rights for LBGT's. My two best friends are both lesbian and I myself are considering to change my gender  (although I'm not sure of it yet). Another reason I support LGBT-rights is that I found LGBT's to be the most fun people to have around :woohoo: So far it is a generalization that has proven to be true in STO :P

My hobbies include writing stories and gaming. The gaming is actually more of an addiction, but I'm working to get that on the right track again (although this STO Winter Event isn't really helping  ) STO is the first MMO I have ever played and since I started with STO I have played other MMO's, but didn't like them. Other favorite games of mine include Dragon Age, Mass Effect and the Elder Scrolls series.

My parents often watched Star Trek when it was on TV, so I can't really remember a time I wasn't a Star Trek fan :cheer: I can't really say which of the series is my favorite, since they are all fun and have their own story and their own strengths.

I currently have four characters in STO  Claire d'Charmont (Caitian :woohoo: ) and Harrison are in the Stonewall Fleets (and Harrison off course in Deep Space Stonewall) and Alice is a KDF Joined Trill(who loathes the Federation :P ) in the KDF Stonewall Fleet (forgot the name, sorry  )

Have fun!

Lars

edit: I see I have used a lot of emoticons. I will try to limit them in the future

Re: Ship Names

December 18 2012
The way I choose my ship's names are based on the Cosmic Era of Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny as well as from the Gundam 00 Season 1 and 2. Those are my favorite Anime of all time. I think it was appropriate to use the names from those because Star Trek and The Gundam Series have the same Theme. Space and Beyond! :)

My Current Ship The Heavy Dreadnaught Cruiser is Named U.S.S ArchAngel from the space battleship in Gundam Seed also known as the "Unsinkable Ship" on Seed Destiny. Although that isn't quite what my Star ship is at all. >.

Re: Ugandan trans woman writes to Parliament

Wow, the bravery of some people just amazes me. I for one could not be anywhere near as brave as this woman who although she goes by an alias, still gave enough information about herself to enable someone that wanted to identify her to be able to do so. I wish her well and truly hope she hasn't endangered herself with her eloquent writing. I know the people behind this legislation will eventually pay for what they are doing but how many people will suffer before that comes to pass? :(

Thank you so much for sharing, kiriamaya! :cheer:

What an amazing woman. Her eloquence does herself justice.

I truly hope that "Kill the Gays" bill isn't passed. It's such a horrendous bill and the part that Americans have played in its creation is horrible. I sign all those online petitions and what not, but who knows how little that's even taken into account.

Re: Ugandan trans woman writes to Parliament

December 17 2012
It looks like the bill has been stalled in parliament, according to news sources:

http://m.allafrica.com/stories/201212150001.html/

though it's scheduled to be voted on in February. This woman is truly brave for speaking up, in the face of current and proposed laws. It's truly sad that this sort of discrimination is endorsed at a governmental level in so many places across the world. Hopefully people like her will be the catalyst for change there, in the near future.

Makes me ask myself if I do enough for people like me, who don't enjoy the freedoms that I do. How does one tackle issues that are so much bigger than them?

Thanks for sharing :)

Oh please... did you REALLY fall for Ozzie's old "pool boy" routine...?

The only reason Ozzie needs a pool boy is for cleaning out his spinal lance's emitter coils!

You're right, of course. I based my statement on Pacific Standard Time (time conversion - always so confusing!). Still those times were not exactly great for European players.

I'm not even sure if anything can be done about this, given that all the event organizers probably had lots and lots to do with creating the festivities. Asking them to do another shift for European players would be too much, I get that. :)

Many of the event organizers are from the Pacific Time zone and that would've made it 11AM - 6:30PM; meaning they gamed right through lunch and dinner. There really isn't a perfect time to run events. That's why we plan 8 hour long stretches of events so hopefully the majority of players would be able to log in and participate in at-least part of the events.

Was there any playthrough of "Shadows of the Past"? Got a few reviews for the mission over the weekend and I think I recognized some of the names from the fleet roster. So, if the event had anything to do with, even more thanks from me. :)

Yes! They ran through your mission on Saturday for the Foundry Mission event!
