I just bought this keyboard myself for my Nexus 7. I haven't used it for taking notes, but I will be very soon for work when I start on a new project. It's handy to hold the tablet while I watch tv shows on it too. :)

I use Evernote for taking notes, you can access the notes on any device with the Evernote App , or on your browser through their website or you can email it too.

i have to be able to write handwritten notes on the touch screen with a stylus and save that in some sort of format I can use later on.

I've bought myself a Google Nexus 7 (made by Asus) two days ago. I paid €240 for it. At the moment i'm still figuring out what i can do with it. Being able to take handwritten notes sounds cool. Hadn't thought about that myself. So, thank you for the suggestion. I did some google-ing and found an app called supernote. I tried it out. This is the result: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxvHBqfWTb__ZEs2T09HY3lUWkE/edit?usp=sharing Yes, when writing with normal pen and paper my handwriting is almost unreadable too.

I've learned two things: Cotton swabs can not be used as a stylus. Typing on a keyboard is a lot faster.

I recommend buying a bluetooth keyboard (like this: http://dx.com/p/wireless-bluetooth-v3-0-80-key-keyboard-w-pu-leather-case-for-google-nexus-7-black-152644) if you need to input a lot of text and are sitting at a table.

He is worth it as it makes it easier to level early on, but one problem they have had is that his mods do not scale. This is a bug, so you are going to have to buy/make mods for the appropriate level toon until its fixed.

scheduling a time might be a good idea... I know I still have to get HK-51. Not sure how worthwhile HK-51 will be for any of my toons but still I don't have it so...

Sounds like a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet is what you want, but it's quite a bit outside of your price range. Maybe you can find a refurbished or used one. they are supposed to be good tablets. I have been researching tablets too and that's the only one I know of that comes with a stylus specially designed for the tablet. Good luck. If you find something else, I'd be interested in knowing about it too.

The Note comes with an application called S-Note. It lets you export to either PDF or JPG format. It will let you backup to a Google Drive account. But sadly, not to a Dropbox account.

EDIT: I should say sync to a Google Drive account. You can backup to a Dropbox account with some workaround. It's just not native.

Re: Catholic Pope Benedict XVI Resigns

Pope Allegedly Sought Immunity For Abuse Crimes Just Before Resigning

We knew something had to be up with the resignation of Pope Benedict. After all, Popes don’t just resign; in fact, this is the first time a Pope has resigned in 600 years. Therefore, the hoopla surrounding this is more than understandable. However, as per usual with the Catholic Church, there seems to be a catch, and, lo and behold, it likely surrounds the infamous abuse scandals that have plagued the church’s image for so long.

It seems that with his resignation announced, the Pope, whose given name is Joseph Ratzinger, has a meeting with the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano on February 23 to beg for immunity against prosecution for allegations of child sex crimes. Apparently, this hastily arranged meeting, and likely the resignation as well, are the result of a supposed note received by the Vatican from an undisclosed European government that stated that there are plans to issue a warrant for the Pope’s arrest. This letter was allegedly received on February 4, and Ratzinger resigned a week later. Now, there’s no way people can ignore how fishy this is. The first Pope to resign in 600 years does so after panicking about an impending arrest and in the midst of a hastily arranged meeting begging for protection from the Italian government? How they will keep people from connecting the two is beyond me. Chances are, the world will be popping popcorn and steadily watching.

Well, for once, the guy might not get off easy. The International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and state calls upon the Italian President to deny help to Ratzinger, and to “not collude in criminality. Let’s just hope that Napolitano does not cave. However, there may be another avenue to make sure the Pope is brought to justice if the Italian President does cave.

It seems that in addition to these alleged attempts by this European government to prosecute, a New York based organization, The Centre for Constitutional Rights, has accused the Pope and his Cardinals of possible crimes against humanity for sheltering pedophile priests. The non-profit legal group has requested an ICC inquiry on behalf of the Survivor’s Network, citing the church’s “long-standing and pervasive system of sexual violence.”

Apparently, the Vatican has no comment. Well, of course it doesn’t. It knows that Ratzinger and his henchmen are guilty, and now they are just scrambling to save face and save his keister from jail. Shame, since that is exactly where he belongs.

The thing is, this institution knows no bounds when it comes to protecting their own, no matter how heinous the crimes. Anyone not living under a rock knows that the Pope and his cronies have abusing children for decades, and likely centuries. The thing is, they are just the biggest example of religion getting people passes. Shameful, but true. All those of us with a sense of justice and conscience can do is hope that one, if not both, of these attempts at legal action is successful.

How very interesting...

Superb short article on Turing. Recognition for him has been long overdue as has a full and unrestricted pardon from the UK government. A superbly done issue. Many thanks!

Larry the Cable Guy meets Stonewall Fleet? Hilarious!

Nota bene:

I too, was once a practicing Roman Catholic (went to a Jesuit school, almost went to seminary, and then I discovered sex- with another seminary candidate), now I am more pagan than anything else.

Re: A Rant, or talk, or something.

February 16 2013
I will attempt to address this with a degree of sensitivity, I apologize in advance if I make a complete hash of it.

First off, my feeling about transgendered and/or cisgender if you prefer. I believe very strongly that the next great civil rights fight will be on behalf of trans/cisgendered folks. I will be right there next to you in that fight, I think gays and lesbians who look down on transgender folk are just as bad as (most) white folk were about African-American civil rights. It's just plain wrong. It is te height of hypocrisy to seek your own civil rights and look down on others.

I have been, over the course of my life, a volunteer crisis counselor for the various LGBT centers in the cities I have lived in, I also support and volunteer for the Trevor Project. In the course of those years I have had a fair number of transgender callers who were feeling isolated and alone, and even suicidal at times. All I can do is to tell you that you are not alone.

I grew up in the rural South of the US, and believe me it was not easy to be gay in a town where gun racks, confederate flags, and rodeos were ubiqutious. As others have mentioned, get out of there as fast as you reasonably can.

Most major US cities have LGBT centers and they offer support for trans/cisgender folks. They should be the first resource you reach out to, if only to get a list of transgender support groups and organizations that will help you with your transition to your actual gender (obviously not your birth gender). I can say nothing about the surgery and physical transition, but now 36 major US universities assist in gender reassignment (if this is the road you choose to take).

In the meantime use the internet to your advantage. Look carefully for accredited agencies that have online support for trans/cisgender folks. This process is the last thing you want to entrust to "fly-by-nighters" and they do exist. Be careful. If you have any questions, ask me or the others here who support you. I have no problem helping you find an accredited organization willing to help.

Finally, a special note on families. I am sorry to say that there are going to be people in your family that will not or do not understand what you are going through. Some of them will try to "help," others will discard you. I know this is hard to read, but don't let that discourage you. Hold onto the ones that cherish you and do your best to be shut of the folks who do not understand and do not want to understand you. I had to break ties with certain people in my family because they were simply toxic. You can seek to mend fences once you are ready, but not before.

Most important, be true to yourself. I and many others here will accept you and do accept you as part of our family.

Warmest regards and a big ,

~Jeff
