Hi everyone,

Our beloved Star Trek shows brought us different characters throughout their run, from cast changes to reoccurring personalities. Things have gotten really busy in my personal, professional and educational life therefore I have to step down as Admiral over our Membership Management Department. When I have time in the future I look forward to returning to our leadership, in whatever capacity needed. Until then, I shall be around, in one of the best positions in the fleet, the position of: Member, title duties: having fun and pew pew pew.

See you all around the stars,

Hello,

I belong to a small fleet, New Frontier Fleet. I met one of your players last night on STO who encouraged me to come check out this fleet. I would like to be associated with Stonewall fleet as it is a GLBT fleet. In addition, I think I can learn a lot from this fleet to help our fledgling fleet. I would like to become on "honorary" fleet member and echo the thoughts of having a sancutary!

Thanks,

Where did everyone go?

March 03 2013
Been playing regularly again since the Gree event, and I am usually the only guild member online, for hours at a time. I havent seen any other guilders on imp side for a week. Did people stop playing, move to other guilds? Caara'den is a bounty hunter, but his is light-sided with a heart of gold, really.

Just wondering what happened, its weird as the game is now f2p, thought there would be more people playing again.

Re: Semil: Agent of the Empire

March 03 2013
Chapter V: Unseen Tectonics

Semil raced down the hallway. The hiss of broken pressurized gas piping was only intermittently punctuated by the occasional sparking conduit. Lights flickered in chaotic asynchrony with the pulsing whoop of the alert klaxons. In spite of his light footfalls, he could feel the vibrations in the deckplating as he came to another partly disabled door.

The Vorta wedged himself through the narrow gap as best he could, exerting and straining with his whole body to squeeze through into the next corridor, seemingly indistinguishable from the previous.

It had been only minutes that the jarring alert had presented him this opportunity. It may have been overly convenient, maybe even a test, but even if it didn't result in escape, it could at least provide some answers, maybe even only clues as to the identity of his captors, or his location -- or even the year. That could be a start.

It sure beat the boredom of his daily regimen. He had attempted activation of his termination implant twice in the past week, mostly out of sheer boredom, only to conclude that he didn't even have one.

The labyrinth of corridors didn't even seem all that complicated, but surely he should have come upon something noteworthy. A turbolift, a control room, a transporter room, an airlock - hell, a fully stocked arboretum, even. Anything except these endless drab gray halls.

It had occurred to Semil that even the first rule of daring escapes wasn't even panning out. Pick a direction, and stick with it - increases the odds of finding some way out.

Even an unconfigurable dumb terminal would've been something to work with. At least that could provide some kind of clue. It never ceased to amaze him how many species with networked computing technology always had the most ridiculously poor security protocols.

Another corridor branch. He had counted the number of turns he had made, just to make sure he wasn't circling back. It hadn't been long since he had made it past the first secured door, but there hadn't been signs of anything but more corridor in the time since. It was possible he was planetside, instead of being on a ship, or station; but even then, this had to have been a massive structure for him to not find anything.

Wherever he was, at least there wasn't any sign of pursuit - no guards rushing him, or the telltale dizziness of anesthezine. No other prisoners, or cries for help from behind the locked doors. If this was some sort of attack, or prison break - someone certainly had more pressing concerns.

Another shower of sparks erupted in the corridor ahead of him. He had only caught himself midstride to stop just barely, feeling the heat and singe against his face and forearms as they instinctively rose to shield him.

He lowered them, when it seemed safe to proceed, and that's when he saw her.
In spite of the generally poor condition of their surroundings, he instinctively dropped to a knee prostrating himself. "Founder. I had no idea..."

"Rise, Semil." The Changeling motioned, bidding him back on his feet. "We must move quickly if we are to escape." She motioned him closer, to her side, as she pivoted to stride down the hallway with the assured confidence that all her species possessed.

Semil assumed his place, following behind the Founder at a reverential few paces, but close enough to remain present in her peripheral vision.

"Come, a ship awaits us. But we haven't much time..."

Semil stopped dead in his tracks, unsure and wavering. "I don't... you came.. for me? You haven't also been imprisoned...?" His eyes squinted, not entirely clear as to this newest twist in his circumstances.

The Founder sensed Semil's hesitation, pivoting back to face him. Her face beamed with the knowing assurance that countenanced the humanoid forms that all Changelings seemed to prefer, when forced to interact with Solids. "Yes." She nodded. "I am taking you home. Where you belong. With us." She extended a hand, goading him to continue on in their escape.

"But..." Semil stammered, "...why? Founder, this could just as easily have been done with a platoon of Jem'Hadar. For you to risk..."

"Why is not important." She interrupted "Only that we leave now." She beckoned to Semil again, this time with growing impatience.

It still wasn't right. A Founder had no place risking herself to free him. He knew it, down to his core, with every genetically engineered fibre, muscle, neuron, and tendon.

A cold, chilling thought seized him. It was absolutely abhorrent, and he knew instantly with perfect, crystalline clarity that it had to be true. "Founder? Are you here...?" His throat stuck, and he shivered slightly. "...you're here to kill me, aren't you?"

Through the strobing flicker of the lights, he could tell her face had become impossibly unfeeling. He knew this face. When a Founder didn't have to bother pretending to be anything like a Solid. "We had hoped to know what secrets you divulged." It was clear that she wasn't even bothering to pretend to pity him. "It seems that is no longer a priority here."

Semil almost choked. He was not surprised by her reaction. From the moment Vorta stepped out of their cloning vats, they had already been programmed with a single unerring, inviolable truth. That the Founders had given life, and carried with that gift the absolute moral right to take life away. The gift and dispossesion of life. Any more detailed definition of a God got bogged down in semantics and stupid details.

What surprised him was suddenly remembering the disruptor he had tucked into his waistband. He couldn't quite remember where he had found it, even if it had obviously only been a few minutes prior. He reached down beneath his tunic, and when he raised it back up - only then did he notice it was wielding the pistol. Aimed squarely at the Founder. He had drawn a bead on God.

The Changeling's face softened again. "Surely, this must be the work of torture. What terrible agonies you must've endured." Her hands reached out to him, welcoming and open. "We only wish to save you from this place. Come with me, and I promise you, they can' t hurt you -- they won't hurt you ever again." Her voice became almost musical.

Semil choked as he fumblingly stepped backwards. He couldn't tell if they were tears; Vorta tear glands had largely atrophied with unuse over the generations. Hot stinging in his eyes could just as easily have been from the steam or conduit sparks. That had to have been it. How else to explain the suddenly suffocating lack of air, compressing upon his chest, squeezing him? Words barricaded themselves in his throat. "Founder -- Founder, I..."

The Changeling punctuated another staccato extension of her hand. Her visage grew more wizened, the sadly bittersweet pleading of a grandmother reaching out to a grandchild by sheer force of the gravity of love and compassion. "Semil, come. Come home with me."

Knots in his stomach had grown and proliferated. His outstretched hand gripping the disruptor openly quaked, more than the bulkheads or deckplating. Through the blurriness of his tear-filled vision, her face beckoned with the ecstatic light of god, his God. The God he had been born, and raised, and engineered, and trained, and taught to serve through all possible fates and agonies. Not just one lifetime, at that. Dozens of lifetimes he carried memories of, all prepared to lay down on behalf of the Founders. In enough cases, he had done just that. Died for his faith, over and over on a Karmic wheel in a test tube, spun by a Founder.

Just then, the God left her Solid form, becoming liquid in a lightning-fast instant. Where the Founder had stood, a formless wall of shrieking daggers and jagged needles surged forward at him at supersonic velocities.

His eyes shut just as his index finger pressed down on the trigger.

_______________________________

Semil shot upright. Darkness enveloped him, as did a cool wetness. His clothes were clinging to him. He reached up to his neck, expecting to find something garrotting him - how else to explain the ragged breaths that felt of fire and toxic ash?

He felt his skin slick and greasy. In the dark, his hands groped their way to his face, to his forehead. The same clammy slippery skin greeted his fingertips there, too.

He looked around as his eyes adjusted, making out the dim outline of his bunk.
His breathing slowed. He shivered in place, trembling from unseen tectonics.

Re: Semil: Agent of the Empire

March 03 2013
Chapter IV: Conditioning Parameters

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - a darkened, nondescript room.

Only a single, brilliant light shines down over a single nondescript chair in the center. SEMIL is seated, with practised, ramrod straight posture.

SEMIL (cont'd)

...I don't believe any fewer than three Jem'Hadar battalions defend Septimus III.

A DISEMBODIED VOICE booms out of the darkened corners of the room; the source of the voice is entirely unclear. The exchange is rapid-fire, with little to no pause.

Then how many more defenders can the Dominion commit to support the Cardassian Eleventh Order within two days notice?

SEMIL

Septimus is centrally located. Eight divisions can arrive within a day. At least twenty within two.
Perhaps I can speak to your cartographers about updating your starcharts, I'd be most glad to...

A SECOND DISEMBODIED VOICE, only slightly gentler in tone chimes in; its source also unseen

How many Founders operate within the Cardassian theatre?

SEMIL

One and only one. I've answered this several...

FIRST VOICE

Where is the Ketracel White storage facility for the Monac system?

SEMIL

In Lagrange orbit between Monac III and IV.

SECOND VOICE

What is the square root of ninety-seven million two hundred fifty-nine thousand, forty-four?

SEMIL
(without pause)

Nine-thousand eight hundred sixty-two.

FIRST VOICE

What is the Founders' primary strategic objective in the Alpha Quadrant?

SEMIL

The capitulation and subsequent occupation of the Federation, Klingon and Romulan Empires. And then we have cake.

SECOND VOICE

You believe this is some sort of exercise in comedy?

SEMIL

Far from it. I have answered all of your questions precisely, with exceedingly accurate detail.

FIRST VOICE

We shall see how "accurate" your answers are, when we...

SEMIL

When you, what? Check your history books?

the FIRST VOICE and SECOND VOICE are conspicuously silent, the first pause in the exchange.

SEMIL
(leaning forward in his chair)

I'm well aware it's no longer 2375. I'm reasonably certain the war has long since concluded. I would even wager it's substantially ahead in the future, though I admit I'm not quite certain when.

(continued silence)

This isn't an interrogation. You know the answers. You're only checking to see the accuracy of the answers I'd provide.

SEMIL's eyes squint, as he awaits confirmation or any reply through the silence

FIRST VOICE

And what would make you believe such preposterous nonsense, if only to test our patience?

SEMIL

Surely you don't think we don't have our own ways of ascertaining -- well, had our ways of ascertaining how much you knew?

That our intelligence outmatched yours at every turn?

Please.

You don't even recognize the questions that I know you shouldn't have even half the wit to ask.

SEMIL reclines back in his chair, pleased with himself

See, I believe - the real question is why you're doing this. What answers do you seek - when you already know what the real answers are supposed to be? Who are you? And what do you...?

SEMIL trails off, as he slumps down in his chair, knocked out. Lights in the room come on, revealing gas pouring out of ceiling vents, and extensive scanning equipment surrounding the chair, retracting upwards in the ceiling, and behind wall panels.

________________

INT. A KLINGON CONTROL ROOM - Numerous monitors and displays show SEMIL slumped in his chair. Other displays report detailed medical and neurological readouts.

ASILIAA

Anesthezine at a hundred parts per million. Returning to normal atmosphere.

K'VOT

I warned you it was too soon...

ASILIAA
(interrupting)

For the compliance testing, not for stupid directed questioning. You must know we have been showing too much of ourselves. This is a very delicate...

K'VOT

We have no time or need of delicacy. If you cannot produce results, I will recommend immediate termination to the General.

ASILIAA

No, no. This, I can memory wipe. I can't continue with many more memory wipes without causing irreparable...

K'VOT

And you believe this defiance is not irreparable? That he knows more than he already should about...?

ASILIAA stands from her seat at the console to directly face K'VOT confrontingly, depsite the Klingon's distinct height advantage

ASILIAA

It is not a waste to make sure that we're not destroying another perfectly good specimen, setting us even further back, just because you won't listen to reason and let us do our job!

K'VOT eyes ASILIAA warily, but quietly pleased as to her sudden outburst

ASILIAA

Look. We'll memory wipe this session, but it's hardly lost. He was hardly wrong, you know. He has been responding to all the questions with unerring accuracy, no matter what he's pieced together.

K'VOT

Doctor, surely you can't believe this is the right time...

ASILIAA

No, no -- nothing like that. Listen to me. I've been meeting with the Letheans. We may have an idea to double, maybe even triple the conditioning parameters.

K'VOT
(sarcasm)

Then why the hesitation? What new brilliant theoretical insights do you aspire to today?

ASILIAA

Not theoretical. We have a plan. And the General is not going to like it.

"Slumber and the Borg: Part Four" By Narciso

March 03 2013
::Slumber and the Borg::

Part Four: End of Madness?

"YOU SON OF A WHORE!" Screamed Cherrosk as his anger exploded beyond limits and he lunged forward, breaking free from Marietta's grasp and punching Representative Helmer square in the jaw. "MY FAMILY WAS ON THE ADONIS! MY WIFE! MY CHILDREN!! YOU MURDERING BASTARD!!!!" Before Helmer could even stumble backwards from the punch, Cherrosk managed to deliver an uppercut to his chin, sending Helmer backwards and falling to the floor. Marietta quickly managed to grab Cherrosk before he could pounce on the Representative, along with Dr. Reeves.

"Calm down Cherrosk!! Killing him won't solve anything!" Cried Marietta as she tried to sooth his boiling anger.

"It's a fucking start!!" Shouted Cherrosk, still reaching and trying to strangle Helmer. He kept trying to push forward and free just so that he could place his hands on Helmer's neck. "It'll put an end to this damn madness!!"

"Enough!" Shouted the Commander.

Before the fight could rage on, they were interrupted once more by a scientist bursting into the room. "Representative!" He shouted as he ran to the old man's side and aided him to his feet.

"I'm alright, I'm alright." Spoke Helmer as he rubbed his jaw with the palm of his hand. "What is it?

"The Borg vessel and the Adonis have both been destroyed sir."

"Yes we know. We watched the entire damn thing!!" Cursed Cherrosk.

"Well, there are survivors of the Adonis near the wreckage. Shuttlecrafts sir. A lot of them."

"Survivors...?" Questioned Cherrosk with doubt.

"See? Your family may still yet be living." Said Marietta as she put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Also, we have received a transmission from the USS Thunderchild which has just entered into orbit. They are proceeding to rescue the survivors and want Commander Calintz and his team to prepare for beaming up."

"I see... This incident no doubt forced a conclusion to our research... Commander. Take your men and go. There is much I must prepare for."

"I Hope you're preparing for Death!" Spat Cherrosk. "If my family isn't rescued... God have mercy on you Representative. God have mercy."

"I do not believe in a God."

"Choice is yours." Whispered Cherrosk as he turned and left the room abruptly, punching the wall beside the door as he left. Marietta herself ran after him, trying to keep him calm and from killing one of the scientists. Fed up with the situation, the Doctor and the Commander both left the office of Representative Helmer and gathered with the other two in the lower lobby.

"USS Thunderchild. Commander Calintz here. Away team ready to beam up, four total."

"Acknowledged away team. beaming now."

Having been beamed onto the Thunderchild, The away team is lead to area where the survivors are free to roam which ,due to their numbers, is a large portion of the starship. Commander Calintz and Dr. Reeves are both called to the conference room, as they are senior staff. Reaching the room, they found the Captain of the Thunderchild and his own senior staff awaiting them. Also present is Narciso, the only remaining member of the senior staff of the Adonis, as the others were all on the bridge.

"Counselor." Called Commander Calintz, noticing his wounds. "Where is the Captain?"

"He was on the bridge when we were surprised by the borg. He didn't survive the first attack. No one on the bridge survived." Replied Narciso solemnly.

"I see... Do we know how many survivors we have?"

"Here Commander." Spoke the Thunderchild Captain as he handed a padd to the Commander. "Counselor Heliree managed to compile the surviving personnel list just prior to being brought aboard. My crew is running through it to confirm it as we speak. It would also seem that Counselor Heliree is responsible for the survival of all those lives, as he took control of the Adonis, following the Deaths of all those on the bridge."

"Is that so? Well done Counselor."

"Do not congratulate me Commander. I was assisted by others and in the end I did lose the Adonis purposely."

"Nonsense Counselor." Voice the Captain. "We have received the record of the battle from Da'vani II while preforming the rescue. We've reviewed it and from what it shows, the destruction of the Adonis, while regrettable, was inevitable. We believe that the Counselor managed to postpone the inevitable, and saved the crew."

"Their lives are the priority over the ship itself. I would say he acted correctly." Voiced Dr. Reeves.

"We all concur doctor. And it will be written so in my report to Starfleet."

"Captain Mendall. What of the situation on Da'vani II?"

"That has been taken care of Commander. Orders have been passed down to the colony. The transport vessel will be here soon, as will others to match the vast population."

"And the-"

"That is all for now Commander. Go rest. Dismissed."

As the Captain ordered the end to the meeting, Narciso stood from his seat and turned to leave but caught Commander Calintz. "Commander. Is the away crew save?"

"Yes Counselor. But you know that already."

"Yes... But I just wanted to be sure I wasn't fooling myself."

"That's understandable. Marietta is waiting for you Counselor. I am sure she is ravaging through the ship trying to find you."

"Good point. Thank you Commander." With a slight bow, Narciso stepped to the side and made his way past the Commander, only to be grabbed on the arm by him.

"Narciso... Are you alright?"

Turning his head to the right, he looked to the Commander and gave a nod. "Yes... I'll be fine. The wound is minor."

"Come here, let me see it."

"That's not necessary..." Without a second to pass, the Commander pulled Narciso towards him and made it so that they were face to face with each other. The Commander was a good seven inches taller than the Counselor, and had a clear view of the wound. He touched the edges gently, not applying enough pressure to cause pain.

"I said I was alright Reaver..."

"Just checking... Did this happen before the Borg appeared?"

"Why do you ask?" Narciso questioned as he glanced up to meet the Commanders' gaze.

"Because you could have sensed the Borg coming, given the Captain fair warning as you have before."

"I see... I was sent to sickbay after something on the surface of Da'vani II caused me to become overwhelmed with emotions."

"Something on the surface? The emit..." The Commander stopped himself from speaking of the secret Borg Beacon Emitter that the scientists had developed. The less Narciso knew regarding it, the better. "Never mind. Now get going, before Marietta starts blasting through the walls."

"She only did that once, and to be fair the Ferengi had boarded without permission. She was worried and the holes were patched up quickly."

"Yeah, I remember the incident... Incidents."

Giving the Commander a smile, Narciso finally left the conference room and headed off to be with the other survivors. Finding Marietta, he was met with a tackle and an embraced all in one. Of course, Marietta was going crazy over the wounds he had and the ordeal he had to go through. Of course, that was expected of their big sister - little brother relationship.

The USS Thunderchild soon left orbit from around Da'vani II and was heading back to the Utopia Planitia Shipyard. From there the survivors of the Adonis would be sent their own ways. Some would head off to live with relatives, others would be instantly assigned to their new posts. Narciso for one, would be traveling back to Betazed to be with his grandparents and await his next post. During his wait, he is promoted to the rank of Lt Commander for his actions, in which he saved ninety one percent of the crew. His wait would not be long, as he would be assinged to a new vessel within a matter of months.

The research on Da'vani II is said to have been ceased, the emitter destroyed, and the disrupter has been taken offline and dismantled.

Or so they say in the official reports...

"Slumber and the Borg: Part Three" By Narciso

March 03 2013
::Slumber and the Borg::

Part Three: Summoning of the Damned.

Concurrently, on the Adonis...

The Adonis counselor, Narciso, could be seen exiting the holodeck and walking through the many decks of the large Adonis to his quarters. As he walks, he is stopped by almost everyone he passes for a small conversation or a minor hello. Of course he is asked to play by all the kids he passes, but he gives them the excuse that he has to work, but that he will play with them afterwards. The rest give him a wave and a smile, as they are all aware of who he is by either speaking to him or by association. Though he has at one point or another spoken to everyone on the Adonis. He is more than happy to speak to them all, however he is in a hurry to change into his own proper clothing, and out of the holodeck costume suit he is wearing. Having finally reached his quarters, which are vastly and tastefully decorated with many pieces of art that originates from Betazed, Narciso quickly heads off into his bedroom. Pictures are hung on the walls, and atop counters, depicting the beauty of Betazed scenery as well as portraits of family, his family. The counselor quickly stripes off of his costume and places it away inside the bottom drawer of his dresser and changes into his own attire, which is a deep blue one piece outfit, with his rank on the collar. The suit has a half-skirt that is part of the design, going from the left side of his torso, under his left arm, and runs down to his feet. His right leg is covered by the skirt, but his left is out and covered by the pants. The skirt itself has a pattern design running along the rim. The pattern is very slim and is that of a white vine. Having changed, he reached up and undid his long, light brown hair, letting it fall loosely onto and around his shoulders. He steps in front of his mirror and looks himself over. He looks completely human, despite his heritage as being three fourths Betazoid and one forth Vulcan. As he reaches up with his hand, he places a few locks of his hair behind his ear, revealing them as perfectly round and not pointed as Vulcan ears are. He reaches to the side of his dresser and opens an elegantly decorated box. He grasps a pair of small earrings, and begins to place them on. Their aqua colored gems caused the natural color of his iris to seem even more rich. Though he was Betazoid, his Vulcan blood allowed a small percentage of the iris to appear, the pupil itself is still rather large however. Narciso gave himself a look in the mirror, remembering the legend of Narcissus that originated on ancient Earth. It seemed that his parents named him properly. It wasn't as though he stared at his reflection constantly, because he didn't. It was because of his features. The Bridge of his nose was bold, but subtle. His eyes were enticing, his eyebrows thick, but shaped. His chin firm and solid, his jaw line defined. His lips were a natural hue of red, and soft with a simple lushness. Having had enough of his own facial reflection, Narciso backed away with a few steps and looked at himself as a whole. His body was an average, though slender. He was lightly toned, but somehow Marietta was more muscular. Not that Narciso felt bad because of that. He did not care much to be muscle bound.

After having given himself a quick check via his reflection in a mirror, Narciso walked over to the exit of his quarters and stepped out onto the hallway. As soon as he exited he was met by a small group of children, in which the Dearian, Axila, and Maillia -Cherrosks' son and daughters- were a part of. As a group, the children surrounded Narciso, as they were very fond of him, and started embracing and tugging at him. "Narciso! Narciso! Play with us!" The majority of them called out to him as they swarmed him from all sides.

"Hey, shouldn't you all be in class?" He questioned as he leaned down and picked up the youngest of the bunch into his arms. "How about you Dearian? Did your sisters drag you along?"

"Oh Narciso, I should have known the kids would have stormed to you." Called a voice from around the corridor. Within a couple of seconds, and charmingly charismatic woman appeared and looked towards the kids. "They were all suppose to be enjoying recess and-"

"Let me guess," Narciso cut in happily, "Maillia got the idea to come see me and the others followed her. That is some daughter you have Lillia."

"Ha ha, I know. She takes after her father."

"That she does. she is definitely a Cherrosk. But I believe Axila takes after her mother. Dearian is a good fifty-fifty."

"That's what I think too. Do you have time to come to the daycare Narciso? The kids would love to see you for a small while."

"Of course love. I still have a couple of hours before I am needed on the bridge." Suddenly all the kids cheered at the same time and were louder than ever. "Shush guys, people may be resting."

"Sowwy Narciso" They all whispered an apology.

"Come on kids. Back to the nursery ward." Called Lillia as she took two by hand and began to walk towards the turbolift. Narciso, still surrounded by the other children, made his way behind Cherrosks' wife, carrying Dearian and somehow herding the children. Lillia often joked that it was due to his telepathy that he 'subdued' the kids, but of course that was just a joke.

Entering the daycare after having ridden on the turbolift with a mass of children, Narciso was suddenly tugged from every direction. By now the kids have all learned not to pull him by his hair. It was the one thing he could not stand. So instead they all tugged on Lillias' hair, much to her dismay and to Narciso's delight. Once he entered, he proceed to play and teach the children. A proper mixture during their recess, as Narciso believed it to be a good idea to combine the two. After a small while Narciso check the ships' time and learned that he had another hour before he needed to appear on the bridge. He tapped on his badge and called for the Captain, when all of a sudden he felt nauseous. His mind became clouded and he felt dizzy, drowsy, and down right awful. The badge chimed and the Captain called out in acknowledgement, however Narciso did not reply. He couldn't hear any of it as he could now only succumb to the feelings he was picking up. His mind raced as best as it could through the fog, to try and come up with the reason of why he was suddenly feeling these emotions, this mixture of happiness and sorrow. They had been in orbit around Da'vani II for a while now. Normally Narciso could pick up something, even if it was light, from the mentality of the populace. He did find it strange that he did not pick up anything, but paid it no heed.

What Narciso didn't realize was that at that time, the waves of the Emitter had overloaded the system containing its waves. This sudden surge is what overwhelmed him, the free waves of the Emitter bombarded him and they somehow amplified the emotions of those succumbing to the disease on the surface. The sudden mental bombardment sent Narciso into a painful state and within a matter of minutes he fell onto the floor of the daycare. Panicked, Lillia called for sickbay while rushing to his side, unsure of what to do by herself. Sickbay responded quickly, being as efficient as always, and transported Narciso to their facility. The Captain was alerted of this, as Narciso was a senior staff member, and came to the sickbay promptly.

Within sickbay, Narciso came too and found himself staring up at the ceiling lamps. He lifted up slowly with his shoulders and abdomen, soon feeling the hands of the nurse providing support. He turned and looked to those few gathered in the room, Lillia, the Captain and the secondary Doctor. "Are the kids alright?"

"I love how you never change Narciso. The kids are fine. They are all worrying about you though."

"Good. I'll have to show them that I'm fine before they panic."

"Counselor." Called the Captain softly. "What happened? The doctor said you weren't tired, and could find no cause for your collapsing."

"I'm not sure myself Captain. I just felt this overwhelming sensation... A... -bombardment- of some kind."

"An attack?"

"No, no. Nothing that was on purpose... It felt like emotions that were being locked away burst open and exploded."

"Locked away?"

"I can't explain it any better... Forgive me Captain.

"Nothing to forgive Counselor. As long as you are alright. Though this is worrying."

"Captain... I feel a sense of anxiety. It appeared at the same time as the overwhelming burst of emotions. It s stronger now. I think it's... It's not just because of the disease. Sorry... I feel like I got short circuited."

"It's fine Counselor. We'll just reach out to the away team." The Captain then tapped his badge, and called for the Commander. Having no response, he called for the Second Officer on the bridge."

"Yes Captain?"

"Lieutenant, can you reach the away team?"

"Trying now sir... I'm not getting a response... Captain we are picking up a new distress signal from the planet..."

"Type and origin?"

"Unknown type, it is originating from the area the away team beamed down. I think it may be Borg Captain..."

"Borg? Have we picked up any Borg vessels in the area?"

"None at all Captain. And our sensors are all working properly."

"I see. I am on my way to the Bridge, Set yellow alert for precaution. Counselor, once you are finished here, join me on the bridge."

"Sure Captain."

With that the Captain left sickbay promptly and made his way to the bridge with a clean haste. Once there he began to give out orders to identify the source and type of distress signal it was. If it was Borg, then it would be a major problem. Apparently it was not on any of the normal Federation frequencies, and they just happened to pick it up by sheer chance. Sadly, nothing could prepare them for the surprise they were about to receive.

As the bridge officers tried to pinpoint the exact location of the distress signal, the helmsman picked something up on sensors, something that wasn't there before.

"Captain! I'm getting a strange reading."

"What kind of reading Ensign?"

"Unknown sir... I think something is about to emerge from warp velocity into our present location."

"Friendly?"

"Unknown sir... Whatever it is, it's massive!"

"Where is it Ensign?"

"Captain, it's appearing on the port side, one thousand meters!"

"Hard to Starboard, full impulse!"

"Contact imminent!"

"All hands, Brace for-" Unable to finish his warning, the Adonis is rammed on her rear port. The contact is directly on the port nacelle, damaging it greatly and sending the ship jolting and jerking, even with the set impulse, to the starboard side.

"Captain, the warp coils took a direct hit! The warp engine almost overloaded!"

"Is the left nacelle still attached to the ship!?"

"Enough, raise shields!"

"Unable to Captain! The overload fried the primary circuits!"

"Reroute manually!"

"Trying now Captain!"

"Captain It's the Borg!"

"Damn it!"

"They're firing torpedoes!"

"Where are my shields!?!?"

"It's no use Captain!!"

"Evasive maneuvers!"

"Controls aren't responding!! CAPTAIN!!

"CAPTAIN!!"

The explosion is heard throughout the ship as the Borg torpedoes hit the Adonis without fail, their target: The bridge. In Sickbay, Narciso has just entered into the hallway, heading for the turbolift. Before he could take another step, the ship suddenly jerks violently to the side and the sound of metallic groaning pierces his ears. The Counselor falls to the floor, along with others passing by, and their panic invades his mind. "Calm down..." He whispers to himself softly, trying to control his telepathic sensory. When the sudden ship-wide motion stops, Narciso raises to his feet and is only met with another sudden movement, another push, this time downwards and a devastating explosion echoed out through the ship. The ship itself began to shift to the side, shaking violently and causing those within to experience a tremor that knocked them off their feet for a third time. The red alert began to sound as Narciso grabbed onto a panel to raise himself up.

"Computer, what's happened!?" He cried out.

"The bridge has been destroyed. Primary Stabilizers have been damaged."

"Computer, how is the bridge destroyed!?"

"Unable to raise shields in time, the bridge took a direct hit from a Borg vessel."

"Computer, use the secondary stabilizers!"

"Unable to comply. Stabilization requires manual override."

"Why isn't the Captain alerting the crew!?"

"All officers present on the bridge were lost in the attack."

"What... This can't be... I have to get to the bridge!"

"Inadvisable. The bridge is no longer accessible."

"The -entire- bridge was destroyed!?... Oh Deities... Wait did you say Borg!?"

"Affirmative Counselor."

"Computer, I'm going to Engineering! Divert all bridge controls to those stations, authorization code; Neves-Heliree-Omega-Theta-7-6-7."

"Affirmative. All bridge controls have been diverted to Engineering Counselor."

Narciso ran through the halls in a haste most unlike him. He managed to pass the hallways and corridors, even though the shaking of the capsizing ship. He reached the large chamber that held Main Engineering, and as he passed through the opening doors he tumbled forwards, the crew within looked to him and the nearest ones aided him to his feet. "Quickly! Get control of the ship!" He cried out as he ran to the main terminal panel, feverishly trying to establish control. "Computer, put the view of the Borg vessel on this screen." The image displayed as prompted, and a Borg Cube came into view. Someone screamed as they saw what was on screen, obviously a cadet. "Calm down. We managed to reroute the power and the shields have been raised, just after the bridge was destroyed... They can't beam into the Adonis. But we have to do something, they're still attacking us." Voiced an Ensign who was working faster than humanly possible.

"Shields are down to 87% counselor. They are still holding. We've managed to regain total control of the Adonis!"

"Good, prepare all photon and quantum torpedo banks and the phasers! Be sure to keep altering their frequencies!"

"Understood! Preparing... Firing!" As the engineering Ensign fired the weaponry of the Adonis, which came about to face its aggressor, the Borg Cube also fired another volley. The torpedoes from each ship flew past each other, directly hitting their targets. Upon impact, the Adonis shook violently, the port nacelle began to emit plasma smoke.

"Counselor! We dealt minimal damage to the Borg Cube! Our shields are down to 47%! Another volley and our primary shields are done for!"

"Counselor, we have a leak in the warp coils!"

"It's not like we have warp capabilities now anyway! Seal the leak off!"

"On it!"

"Stay calm! I've just sent out an S.O.S. on all frequencies. Computer, order the evacuation of all hands." Narciso quickly punched in a few orders into the panel before him, then opened the intercom to speak to the entire ship. "All hands, this is Counselor Heliree. Proceed with immediate evacuation. When evacuating, do not launch out towards the bow of the Adonis, proceed to the stern, and open the distance from the Borg Cube. The Adonis will provide cover and protection for as long as possible." Upon giving the order, the crew of the Adonis instantly began to make for the escape shuttles. Narciso took direct control of the helm and began piloting the ship, as well as the weaponry, ordering all those around him to hurry up and get on with escaping. however, a handful of them voiced that they were not going to just up and leave, and pointing out that Narciso wasn't exactly a tactical genius.

"Alright. Let's provide cover for the escaping shuttles. Divert all available power to the phasers and the shields. Take it from life-support if you need to! Ensign, take the phaser control"

"Gotcha! Diverting all power now counselor. The shields have been strengthened to 76%. now taking from life-support to power phasers!"

"Phasers online! Taking control now!

"Good. Use the phasers to destroy any torpedoes aimed at the escape shuttles. Modulate the frequencies of the quantum torpedoes and let them loose on the Borg Cube!"

The battle between the Akira Class USS Adonis and the Borg Cube intensified. As the escape shuttles launched out from the various decks of the Adonis, the Borg began to fire upon them, in attempts to disable the ships and assimilate those aboard. The Adonis however, piloted by Narciso, used its weaponry to destroy the Borg torpedoes before they reached the shuttles. Even going so far as to take direct phasers and torpedo hits to shield the shuttles. As the shields of the Adonis failed, both primary and secondary systems, the attacks from the Borg Cube began to tear the Starfleet ship apart.

"Counselor! All our torpedoes have been used up! Only four phaser banks are operational! We can't provide accurate cover for the escape shuttles!"

"Calm down ensign! As long as we're still here, we'll use the Adonis as a wall."

"We won't last more than a few minutes! the hull has been compromised! Structural integrity is failing, and fast!"

"Hall breaches all over the upper decks! We don't have enough power to close them all!"

"All phasers banks have been destroyed! We have no more weaponry!"

"Shields down to 37%! - 21%!! No power left to give to shields!"

"Divert the power that would used for the phasers!"

"Shields boosted to 33%, but that's it!"

"Then there is only one thing left to do. I'm setting a collision course. The very least that will happen is the disabling of the Borg cube... Hurry up and go to the remaining escape shuttles!" Shouted Narciso. The Adonis' engines suddenly fired up on auxiliary impulse, and the counselor compensated for the damaged nacelle, and the starship was sent forward, aiming itself into the heart of the Borg cube. The Adonis shook with a gallant vigor, as if pouring out all energy it had left in the ramming attempt, as it knowing that it must sacrifice itself. However, the Borg seemed to anticipate the act and powered up their phasers, all their torpedoes having been used up as well.

"Counselor! The Borg cube is firing again!"

"I see it! They're aiming at us and not the shuttles, that's all that matters now. Hurry up and go!" The handful of crewmen within engineering began to run out into the hallways, desperate to make it to an escape shuttle.

As the Adonis charged forward, it's halls groaned and ached with the stress placed on it. The Borg unleashed the full, remaining force of its phasers, which hit the upper bow of the Adonis without fail. The phasers cut through the shields, which were no longer able to protect the starship. Upon impact, the phasers tore through the primary and secondary hulls like a blazing hot knife through butter. The effect was the forming of even more gaping holes in the hull. The Adonis let out a groan that sounded as if the ship was in pain, however it did not stop its charge.

The ongoing hits from the Borg phasers hit the Adonis without a single miss. Within a matter of seconds a power surge ran through the ship, the worse of it was in engineering. The panel Narciso was operating suddenly exploded with the overload, and threw the young Counselor backwards. Hearing his scream, the crew that had just left instantly returned for their friend and found him on the ground, a head wound was bleeding profusely. They all ran to his side and aided him, picking him up and carrying him. All save one, who ran to a nearby panel and took over piloting the ship. Through the explosions from the still ongoing slams the Borg were dealing, the Ensign shouted to his crew-mates.

"I'm setting autopilot! Let's get out of here!... What? DAMN!"

"Hurry up! What's wrong!?"

"The autopilot is malfunctioning!"

"Narciso saw that already! That's why he stayed behind!"

"Yeah well, he's on his ass now! Take him and go!"

"...Alright! ...Good Luck Jonah!"

The strongest of the remaining four picked up Narciso, into a piggyback position to carry the unconscious Counselor. They bolted out of main engineering, and as soon as they left the doors behind them were closed and locked, by no one else than Jonah, to prevent them from trying to come back for him, which they would have. As the small band of crewmen run through the corridors, they are careful to not take a turn that would kill them, as explosions run rampant throughout their path. Running and twisting their way to the shuttle left for them. They made it in record time to the nearest shuttlebay, the one in the rear, and found a surprising three shuttles left, one of which was on its side and extremely damaged.

"Come on, into the Rhine Maiden! It's a medical shuttle!"

"He's bleeding onto my shoulder, we need to close his wounds!"

"Come on - come on!" As the shuttle's rear opened, they all hastily boarded. The first Ensign ran and took the pilots' seat, activating the shuttle and preparing her for launch. The Ensign carrying Narciso ran and laid him down on the low medical bed, letting his pal get to work on the wounds. The fourth and last Ensign stayed at the rear, and looked to the shuttlebay doors, a look of panic present in her face.

"What are you doing!? Get in here Chrissy!"

"The doors! We need to open them!"

"We'll do it remotely!"

"Will that work!?"

"Not sure. Why!?"

"Because the panel controlling the shuttlebay is missing!"

"What!?"

"It must have exploded!"

"Damn it, just get in here!"

"Jake!"

Chrissy cried out as an explosion burst the shuttlebay door open. As Jake was about to comment that their problems were solved, the air within the shuttlebay began to get sucked out through the hole. Chrissy, standing at the shuttles' entrance, suddenly was caught by the decompression and was pulled outwards. Jake lunged forward, managing to miraculously grab her hand as she swayed in the air current. "Close the damn hatch!" Jake shouted backwards. As the shuttle doors began to close, it took all his strength to pull Chrissy in enough so that she wouldn't get chomped in two.

"Thank you." She panted out through heavy breaths.

"Get us out of here!" Jake shouted to Hal, who was piloting.

"We're already flying!" He responded back, over his shoulder, as he was able to maneuver the medical shuttle through the just wide enough hole. As they flew out of the shuttlebay of the Adonis, like a bat out of Hell, the view behind them was devastating. They just managed to escape as the bow of the Adonis ripped through the flat side of the Borg Cube, which tired to move out of the way at the last second but was unable to. Their hearts sank as they witnessed the explosions and the tearing of both ships. The frontal half of Adonis' saucer was already impaled into the cube, but it did not stop. As if knowing that it must save all the lives behind it, the Adonis continued to drive forward, the nacelles beamed with power, the port nacelle suddenly exploded. Massive parts of it flew off in all directions, but the Adonis somehow stayed strong. It continued to give all it had.

As the majority of the saucer section was now within the Borg cube, it finally gave out and ruptured, the frame no longer able to withstand the extreme pressure. The halls buckled and caved in. Yet the remaining starboard nacelle remained lit. It soon flickered, like a dying flame. However it never had the chance to die out, as the Adonis exploded. The massive burst originated from the center of the Borg cube, and while it seemed as though the sacrifice was worthless, explosions were finally seen throughout the entirety of the Borg cube, which suddenly shattered into halves and various chunks.

Within minutes, all the explosions ceased and all that was left in the aftermath was rubble. Both ships had been lost, but the crew of the Adonis had been saved. The shuttles were amassed a distance away from where the battle was waged.

Within the shuttle carrying Narciso, the four Ensigns looked a mixture of relief and despair.

"It's over..." Voiced Hal.

"Is it?" Questioned Chrissy.

"Of course it is." Confirmed Jake. "How's the Counselor Theo?"

"His wounds aren't life threatening. I managed to close them. With this, he should be wake up."

As Theodore injected the Counselor with a stimulator, a gasp of air being taken in was heard as Narciso arched his back. He quickly laid back down and opened his eyes, looking to the shuttle ceiling. He sat up slowly and looked to Theo, who was glancing down at him in a type of half panic.

"I'm fine Ensign."

"Oh thank God."

As Narciso sat up, he looked to Hal, Chrissy, and Jake. He took in his surroundings and understood what had happened. "Jonah took over for me."

"Yes..." Replied Chrissy softly.

"It's alright Chrissy... You can cry. I'm not above it myself either."

"I should have known you knew Counselor."

"It'll be alright Chrissy." Spoke Jake as he stood up from beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder and then walking towards Hal and the empty seat near him. "Hal, take us down to the planet."

"No, wait." Narciso warned. "There's still the plague on the planet. Just take us to the other shuttles. Open a link to all of them."

"Link established Counselor."

"Thank you. All shuttlecrafts, Remain your current coordinates. Our distress signal has already been answered. So keep calm everyone. Transmit personnel list to the Rhine Maiden, and remember: Keep calm."

"Counselor, personnel lists are being transceived. Compiling now." Confirmed Hal.

"Counselor..." Called Jake. "Why did you lie about our distress signal being acknowledged?"

"I didn't lie?"

"How not? We've-"

"USS Thunderchild just warped out into our area. They are providing assistance." Cut in Hal.

"The Thunderchild? Wasn't she suppose to be at the Utopia Planitia Shipyard?" Questioned Chrissy.

"No, she finished her repairs ahead of schedule." Answered Jake. "What luck."

"See? I didn't lie." Commented Narciso as he laid back down onto the medical bed. "Wake me when we are taken in. Make sure we are the last ones. That should give us enough time to complete the personnel list."

"Roger that Counselor." Replied Hal as Narciso's eyes closed and he drift off asleep instantly. "Chrissy, how did he know the Thunderchild was here?"

"Didn't he send out a distress signal during the battle?"

"I don't remember him doing so Jake..."

"That's our Counselor for ya."

"It's amazing we survived... Thanks to Jonah."

"Yeah. Thanks to Jonah." Whispered Chrissy under her breath as she embraced herself, looking away from the scene of the Thunderchild rescuing the Adonis survivors.

"Slumber and the Borg: Part Two" By Narciso

::Slumber and the Borg::

Part Two: Disease of Angels

Concurrently during the events on the holodeck, on the bridge of the Adonis, the Captain is in the middle of speaking to a representative of the colony and its many inhabitants. The man on the main viewer of the Adonis is of human origin, old with a tired face and deep sullen eyes. As soon as he appears on the screen he instantly raises his voice, pleading for the assistance of the Federation. The panic within him is more than apparent. However, it is obvious that he is holding something back. The man himself is not a miner, however, he appears to be a politician that was appointed by vote.

"Captain Haou, please! We need immediate evacuation! Transport our youngest onto your ship. They must be saved!"

"Listen Representative Helmer, we can't blindly start bringing people onto the Adonis. for all we know they are infected. We have just arrived as well. We know absolutely nothing about this disease"

"But Captain!! The children do not harbor the illness! They must-they must!!... No, you are right, I fear... An... investigation... must be carried out... However I fear there is no cure Captain! And if there is, I fear we will not find it in time!"

"Yet we are here, and we are going to commence our investigation. We -will- discover what this disease is exactly, and if we can manage to do that, we might just be able to discover a cure."

"Yes Captain Haou... I know the Federation won't just let us die... But please hurry! This disease has spread like wildfire."

"We have a means to send down a team to gather samples for analysis. They will be transported down to your location in twenty minutes. They will be wearing specialized containment suits."

"We shall prepare to receive them captain. We will aid them in any way possible."

"Understood. Excuse me for a minute Representative. Ensign Avonic, close the link." The Captain stares at the now blank screen of the bridge and leans forward. He activates the intercom and calls for the away team to assemble for their mission. As he finishes giving the order, the doctor speaks through the intercom and address him.

"Captain, Sickbay here."

"Yes Dr. Reeves?"

"I have been going through and through the reports that the Da'vani II colony has sent to us sir."

"Any good news doctor?"

"Sadly none at all Captain. I've compared the information to the medical records and history banks of the Adonis, however nothing is even remotely close. While there are sleeping illnesses, nothing resembles this."

"I see. The away team will be collecting samples for analysis."

"Oh captain, did you receive my report that it may be air-born? Having an away team go to the planet surface-"

"Worry not doctor, we have taken safety measures to ensure no one contracts the disease. In the meantime, have Engineering aid you in creating a save environment to perform the analysis. That means that you'll have to beam down to the surface too doctor."

"Understood captain. I hope this will be a quick case."

"You and I both Reeves. You and I both..." Finishing his conversation with the doctor, The Captain signals over to Ensign Avonic, who then reopens the link with Da'vani II. "Representative Helmer. I need you to explain this disease more to me. Everything and anything possible."

The old man known as Helmer appears on the screen and has his arms folded, a pondering look on his face plainly visible through his wise appearance. "Captain... what I have to tell you has all been given in the reports I sent."

"Be that as it may Representative. Start from the beginning."

"Alright Captain... Let's see..."

"Excuse me Representative Helmer." A woman appears on the main view beside Helmer, after having walked up to his side. She looks to be a woman in her mid thirties. Her hair is well kept, and her glass give her the look of a vast intellectual. Her labcoat gives her away as a scientist, one of many who came to Da'vani II's various research laboratories. "Allow me to explain the disease."

"Ah, Captain Haou. This is Doctor Fallist, the chief researcher of lab six. She has been doing her best researching the disease once it sprang up and began plaguing us."

"Alright, Dr. Fallist, please go on with all you know."

"Needless to say Captain, I have learned quite a bit, however nothing that has truly been beneficial. The disease itself first appeared a month ago. At first it seemed to be a sleeping disorder that was similar to the "Sleeping Beauty" cases, the 'Klein-Levin Syndrome' from Earth. At first were were surprised, but it made sense that it would resurface. However, unlike the KL Syndrome, those infected never awoke, nor did they stir in their sleep. Even their bodily functions stopped entirely. Yes, from that all of those infected died from natural causes. Their bodies just shut down without a fight." Pausing for a moment, the doctor pressed a combination onto her panel, and into view came a diagram of a human being's anatomy, focusing on the main organs. The view of the doctor remained as the main viewer was now a split screen view.

"You see Captain," the doctor continued, "the people who become infected by this disease, become drowsy to the point that they just fall asleep, naturally. They then begin the five stages of sleep, however they never reach the last stage, which is REM, Rapid-Eye-Movement. Interestingly enough, they progress through the first stage normally enough, and can even be awoken for a short period of time. And no, after a while of being awoken they will finally fall asleep, even with the introduction of drugs to stimulate them awake. During the second stage is when things become interesting." the diagram zooms in to show the brain only. Waves can be seen emitting originating from the brain and out to the neck and beyond. Occasionally, a rapid burst of waves are seen. "This is the stage were Sleep Spindles occur. This is a normal pattern showing, Captain. Now, watch as I put in the pattern for one who is infected." The Sleep Spindles appear more frequently and erratically. "As you can see Captain, the pattern is far from average. In fact, this is more suitable for a 'psychotic mind'. Now going onto the third stage, Delta Waves should begin to appear, slowly. However in this case, they never do. Which is impossible. Delta Waves have no exception and are always present. This is the stage when a person enters 'Deep Sleep', and Delta Waves are a sign of this, as they signal that the brain is in a rested state, all other functions are 'asleep'. It is then in stage four that the brain produces only Delta Waves exclusively to a high degree. It is then that we enter the fifth and last stage, REM. for some reason, those infected never enter REM Sleep. In fact, they seem to never enter the third or fourth stage of sleep, and even the second stage is troubling. by all accounts, they are not even truly asleep. from this point on, after the patient has been infected, their internal organs all begin to shut down slowly. And that is what ultimately kills them. The brain and the central nervous system itself are the two last organs to shut off, simultaneously with the heart, which slows down steadily until it finally comes to a halt. But the people affected have the... most serene look on their faces. We also believe that they experience no pain. Because of that, we have come to call this disease, the Disease of Angels."

The split screen image becomes a single one as the diagram disappears and the doctor herself appears, alone as Representative Helmer has disappeared. Behind her however, the away team can be seen setting up their equipment. The doctor herself pays them no mind, and stays looking at the Captain. "We have tried everything imaginable Captain Haou. All we can do is evacuate those who are not infected, and quickly."

"I see... However, evacuation will be impossible for now. At least until we find a way to identify the disease itself. The only way we can tell that someone is infected, is by the symptoms they show."

"But Captain! Those without the symptoms are perfectly healthy! We believe that the moment you show the symptoms is the moment you contract the disease."

"Is there any proof? Any research at all to back that hypothesis up Doctor?"

"...No Captain. Just our... Gut instinct."

"Then we have no choice but to continue on with this investigation. I shall be checking up on you all shortly, Haou out." As he finishes his conversation, Captain Haou stands from the command seat and enters his ready room, giving the Conn to his Second Officer, as the First Officer is also a member of the away team. He sits at his desk and begins to once again review the current reports from Da'vani II.

The away team has just beamed down to the surface, appearing behind Dr. Fallist as she speaks to captain Haou. All four members, wearing their containment suits, scramble with a professional haste to set up their equipment that was beamed down along with them. within a matter of seconds they have already unpack the majority of their things and are already prepared to begin their testing.

"Ensign Geroff. Do we have the samples?" Called an authoritative voice.

"Just got them Commander." Answered Marietta as she is handled several small, closed, petri dishes from an assistant. She walks the few steps needed and places them on the table.

"Oh, thank you Ensign Geroff."

"No problem Doctor. Commander, Permission to take Cherrosk and preform analysis on those infected."

"Permission granted Ensign. Cherrosk, with Geroff."

"Yes sir, Commander." Spoke Cherrosk as he walked up towards Marietta and jokingly patted her on her rear.

"Ah! Cherrosk, stop fooling around." Marietta scolded as she reached for her tricorder and began to run analysis on the nearest person, who eyed her questioningly with a slightly insulted look.

"I'm not infected."

"How can you say that with such confidence?" She continued to move the tricorder until her wrist was grabbed harshly by the man she analyzing, causing her to gasp.

"Geroff! Hey, you! Let her go!" Shouted Cherrosk as he charged up and grabbed the guys' arm, prying him off of Marietta. "Commander!"

"What is going on here!?" Shouted the Commander as he turned and took a step towards them.

"This man attacked Ensign Geroff sir!" Cherrosk instantly had the mans' arms pinned behind his back in arrest, waiting for the proper orders.

"Ensign, is this true?"

"... Yes sir." Voiced Marietta as she rubbed her wrist from the pain inflicted. she was more upset about being caught off guard the way she was. "He claimed he was not infected and grabbed me in an effort to get the tricorder away from him."

"Excuse me, what is going on here?" The woman who had been speaking to Captain Haou appeared and had a stern look on her face. "Commander, I thought the Adonis and her crew were here to provide assistance. Not to harass us."

"Doctor, the one harassing is your man. Not the other way around." Spoke the Commander firmly.

"He said he was perfectly Healthy. All of us in here are."

"Doctor Fallist, how can you speak so surely of this?"

"Commander, we have more than enough reason to suspect this as truth."

"...Doctor is there any information you are not disclosing to us?"

"Why, none at all Commander. We have been giving you all the information we have."

"I see... Geroff, Cherrosk. Head outside and gather some environmental samples."

"Commander we have provided you with such samples already."

"I know that doctor. I believe we need... a second sample. Be quick you two."

"Aye commander. Marietta, let's go."

"STOP!" Shouted Dr. Fallist. "You cannot leave this building. We are.. air locked for our protection. Opening any of the doors will result in contamination."

"... Doctor, we need to have a serious conversation."

"Commander?"

"What do you truly know about this disease?"

"I... I told you everything I know. In fact I just finished telling your Captain-"

"-Yeah, yeah. Disease of Angels. I heard it all. What other information do you have?"

"Commander I don't understand..."

"You know that something here doesn't connect. That explanation you gave the Captain was more than detailed... You know more than you gave."

"I... I..."

"Be calm Carrie." The voice of Representative Helmer could be heard as he walked onto the scene, stepped beside Doctor Fallist, placing a hand on her back to reassure her. "Commander there s nothing more we can tell you."

"And why not?"

"We are done here Commander." Taking a pause Representative Helmer gave the Doctor a nod, sending her off and out of sight. He walked towards the Commander and spoke in a whisper. "Ask your superiors Commander. And I do not mean the Captain... Do not mention me. I will not aid you. No one here will..." With those words the Representative turned and left abruptly, leaving the away team to their own devices.

The Commander had an eyebrow raised as his mind processed everything that had been happening. He had a strong hunch that something was being left out, and it was just confirmed. After a moment he turned towards the away team and looked to them, still thinking. Soon he broke the silence by calling for the Adonis. "Calintz to Haou. Captain are you there?"

In his ready room, the captain was once again reviewing the information given by Starfleet. No matter how many times he read it, there seemed to be holes in the information. More and more appeared as he read through them, no matter how cleverly covered they were. As the voice of the commander filled the room, the Captain tapped on his badge to confirm the link. "I'm here Number One. what is it?"

"Captain we have been met with some... minor hostility. We need to contact Starfleet right away. There is missing information that we were not aware of prior."

"I agree Number One."

"Captain?"

"I have been reading and rereading the reports given to us. The more I go through it, the more holes I find in the said information. Have you discovered anything solid?"

"Sadly no Captain. But my... source, can be trusted. I believe Starfleet will tell us all if we work this right."

"Agreed. Prepare to beam aboard."

"Not yet Captain. We still have work to do down here. Don't worry, we're save and we are not expecting anymore hostility."

"Understood Number One. I will contact Starfleet and inform you on what I have discovered."

"Roger that Captain. Calintz out."

As the link was cut off, the Captain stood from his desk and exited his ready room, entering onto the bridge of the Adonis. As he took his seat he spoke to his second in command, who relinquished the seat as the Captain appeared. "Lieutenant, connect us to Starfleet, priority channel."

"Yes sir. Opening channel now... Established."

"Adonis, how goes the mission?"

"Commodore Protess. Where is the Admiral?"

"Admiral Jeir is occupied with other matters. I am here."

"Fine. We need the missing information regarding the disease on Da'vani II."

"Missing information, Captain?"

"Yes. Missing."

"Captain, you must be misin-"

"We are not misinformed. We need the rest of the data."

"Captain have you beamed any survivors aboard?"

"No, of course not. They-"

"-Beam the survivors aboard Captain. We have another ship on its way, escorting a transport ship for the continued evacuation. The ones you will beam up are the top priorities."

"You mean the politicians, such as Representative Helmer?"

"No Captain Haou. The top priority survivors are the chief researchers."

"... I see. We will not be receiving anyone aboard the Adonis at this time."

"Are you defying direct orders Captain?"

"Of course not. I said at this time. Once we are positive that no one is infected, we will start taking them in."

"Those within the air locked environments are disease free Captain. We are more than positive about it."

"... How can you be so sure Commodore?"

"That is all Captain. Starfleet out."

"Commodore! COMMODORE!!"

"It is no use Captain. They have already cut the link."

"Hmph..." The Captain leaned back onto his chair and took a moment to think. His eyes stayed glued to the main viewer until he rose a hand to tap his badge. "Number One, come in."

"Yes Captain?"

"Number One, your status."

"We have been testing our samples, the given ones and our own. We might have found something. The Doctor believes it to be a man-made, compounded, substance. And it is appearing only in the samples we ourselves gathered."

"Have you been able to identify it?"

"Negative Captain. Nothing matches it in our records. But I have a hunch that the scientists down here know more than they are saying."

"Number One... I have that same hunch. Find Representative Helmer."

"You read my mind Captain."

"Thought so. Seems these hunches are paying off. Also, Number One, stay together."

"Roger that Captain. Away team out."

With that said the Captain rose up from his seat and walked into his ready room, once more giving the Conn to his second officer. Once he sat down at his desk he asked the computer to locate Counselor Heliree. It responded in the traditional, female voice, "The Counselor is currently on holodeck two." The captain seemed to glance over to his panel and took in the ships' time. He nodded silently to himself and picked up a nearby PADD, writing up a personal report. The Counselor still had time left, three hours actually, before he needed to report to the Captain. Yet the Captain knew that he would appear early. Narciso always does.

Back with the away team, Commander Calintz and his three man crew were continuing their experimentation. However, once the Commander spoke to the Captain, they all stopped and began to search for the Representative. It was not hard to find Helmer, as all it took was to walk around a corner and into his office, pointed out by those they passed without argument. Once inside his office, the Commander approached his desk, speaking for everyone.

"Representative Helmer. All of it. Now."

"Excuse me?"

"What is actually happening here on Da'vani II."

"... A disease-"

"-ENOUGH!"

"... I suspect that you found something that would permit such an outburst Commander."

"We know less than we would like."

"Don't we all Commander... Alright. As you know, Da'vani II started as a mining operation. It instantly flourished and quickly became home to many various labs dedicated to improving the lives of all citizens of the Federation. Convenience appliances and things of the like. It is a lie." The Representative leaned forward and placed his elbows on his desk, folding his hands just in front of his chin. "Da'vani II is home to a rather new branch of research."

"What research is that?"

"The Borg."

"What?"

"The Borg. One of the most dangerous threats to the Federation. To life everywhere. So we established our home of operations here, on a quiet planet, under the guise of mining -which does happen of course- and civil labs. Of course, no one outside the circle knows. In fact, the vast majority of the populace here on Da'vani II is unaware of the truth. Ask them and they will honestly answer by saying that Da'vani II is a mining planet."

"And the truth is what Representative?"

"The truth..." The old man leaned back and spun ninety degrees in his chair, standing up and walking towards the portrait of a five person family, Helmer being one of the five. "The truth, Commander, is far more... intriguing. We researched many, many things."

"Weaponry." Marietta cut in.

"No my dear lady. Nothing that could be used against us... Or so we believed." Helmer turned and faced the away team, the Commander standing before the desk, Marietta to his right by a potted plant, the Doctor standing behind the commander, and Cherrosk leaning against the wall by the door, just in case things got ugly fast. All of them were still wearing their containment suits. "You see... We..."

"What Representative. Give us a flat out answer."

"The Disease of Angels..."

"That is the weapon?"

"No... it is the side effect. One that surprised us all..."

"How did it come about?"

"Our research worked in a biological-mechanical nature. We discovered a way to disrupt the collective consciousness of the Borg."

"You can't possibly mean..."

"Yes. Exactly! We found a way to severe the link, at least temporarily. This would disable the entire collective. Imagine it... If this was used on a Borg ship, it would be rendered entirely useless and open. We even have reason to believe that it would destroy their instant ability to adapt to frequencies. The potential was immeasurable."

"What happened?"

"The disruptor worked in all the testings, simulations, and so on. So we finally received approval to actually build it. Doing so, we even discovered a way to heighten the range of the disruptor waves. We were all amazed by the distance it could travel. The Fallist Disruptor was a major success."

"Fallist Disruptor? You mean-"

"Yes. Dr. Fallist is the one who designed and created it. All of it comes from her mind, her hard work and vast effort."

"You still have not explained how the Disease of Angels came about."

"Yes... As I said, the machine is impossible to be used against us. Meaning that it has absolutely no effect on the minds of humans or other humanoid species. But... There was no way we could have seen it coming."

"Seen what, Representative?"

"The Disruptor Waves... They caused a massive, unforeseen, effect on the environmental systems all around the planet. It somehow altered the system. We still do not know how exactly, but we do know that a compound was being released into the air."

"The compound we found."

"Yes, exactly. It somehow acts as an extreme calming agent. But one can describe more as being closer to carbon monoxide. There was no 'first victim' of the disease. All at once, thousands of reports were flooding in about people falling asleep and never waking up again. The first symptoms are similar to that of depression, a lack of caring for anything, even eating. The drowsiness comes afterwards. then they would fall asleep... anywhere. People fell asleep during their jobs, in the middle of the streets, everywhere. Thankfully we were able to place ourselves in these air locked structures."

"And all those outside are left to die, the truth covered up. But why?"

"The cover up? For exactly what the lady said prior: Weaponry. The Fallist Disruptor has no possible way to be used, besides against the Borg. But the Disease of Angels... That is a universal weapon against all humanoids. The Federation wants to keep it a secret, on the basis that others will try to use it should they be able to harness the disease through the compound."

"All it would take is them getting to the environmental systems, and boom." Said Cherrosk as he gestured an explosion with his hands. "It would be checkmate."

"Exactly. Thus the secret on the matter."

"Wait. Is the Adonis is danger?"

"No, she has not been here long enough and I believe her to be just outside the range of the Disruptor itself, regardless."

Without a warning, the doors to the Representatives office slid open and a scientist burst into the room, looking desperate. "Representative! It's the Emitter!!"

"Silence you fool!" Snapped Helmer.

"But Representative!! She's overloading!! They have picked up on the Emitter signal and we believe that they are approaching it!"

"What!? What happened to the containment field!?"

"Sir, it was not strong enough to block the signal! We've received a long range transmission from them!"

"Is the Disruptor online?"

"No Sir!! It was shut off for our exams!"

"Get it back online you idiot!"

"Sir, Dr. Fallist is working as fast as she can! She says that the disruptor will be online and functioning properly in three weeks!"

"THREE WEEKS!?!?

"Yes sir! It was taken offline and parts were dismantled for the investigation! It will take that long to put it all back together! It is a very complex system!"

"Representative Helmer!! What is going on here!? What else have you kept from us!?" Exclaimed Commander Calintz, obviously upset.

"Go aid them. Get everyone you can muster to aid in the reconstruction of the Disruptor..."

"Yes sir!" With that the scientist ran out of the room faster than he had entered.

"Representative, we are waiting."

"Hmph. We have simultaneously... Invented a 'beacon' for the Borg."

"A beacon?"

"Yes... An emitter that sends long range signals similar to a Borg S.O.S. It is to lure them in so that the Disrupter can be used against them."

"You're all mad..."

"Mad? Madness is not the word Commander. The Disruptor has no limit on how many Borg it can effect at once. Using it 'en masse' is a faster means to an end."

"Yeah, and end for us all."

"The Emitter was contained-"

"Apparently not!"

"Lower your voice Commander. I will not tolerate it. We still have time before the Borg show up."

"Three Weeks?"

"... We have sufficient time to restore the Disruptor to a working condition. It does not need to be at a hundred percent capability. The USS Adonis-"

"-Has been set up into a battle. I'm alerting the Captain. Away team to the Adonis." As the Commander called for the Adonis, he was only responded with silence.

"The emitter is blocking the communication Commander."

"There is no way to warn the Adonis!? BULLSHIT!" Shouted Cherrosk as he lunged forward and slammed his fist onto the Representative's desk. Marietta reached forward and grabbed him by his shoulders, pulling him back. Cherrosk had children with him, and they were on the Adonis now.

"Calm down Cherrosk. Commander, Is there any way we can go to the Adonis? A shuttle perhaps?"

"Good thinking Marietta. Representative-"

"-We have no such shuttles."

"Mon Deus... How do you plan to escape the planet shout things go sour?"

"Escape is not an option for us. Neither is failure." Said Representative Helmer as he returned to his seat.

"Is there a way to replace the containment fields around the emitter?"

"No Commander. If the fields failed, then they are no longer in existence. The system was blown and destroyed as soon as the emitter waves broke free. You heard him, the system overloaded. Also, take off those ridiculous containment suits. You are perfectly fine in here... Wait how did you find the compound?"

"It was present in the sample we had."

"Impossible. We gave you samples that did not have the compound."

"We took samples of our own."

"WHAT!?"

"... We took samples of our own. They are locked in the Doctors workspace."

"Yes, all the samples are closed off by a force field." Spoke the Doctor.

"... Should those fields fail, then the Borg is not our only threat..."

"Slumber and the Borg: Part One" Original Story by Narciso

::Slumber and the Borg::

Part One: Prelude to Despair

Through the vastness of space, within Federation territory, a large Starship was sailing through the stars. This was the Akira Class Starfleet vessel named the USS Adonis. Though no sound can be heard in the vacuum of space, within the comfortable climate of the Adonis the voice of a young man can be heard singing inside his quarters as his body can be seen swaying to the music accompanying him, slowly at first then picking up speed naturally with the rhythm.

"Now and then I think of when we were together..." The young man leans to his left slightly.

"Like when you said you felt so happy you could die...." He slowly leans right, raising his hands slightly.

"Told myself that you were right for me." His elbows now raise up, his arms now perpendicular to him.

"But felt so lonely in your company." His feet spread a foot apart, as if bracing himself.

"But that was love and it's an ache I still remember..." His knees bent slightly, his hand goes to his heart.

"You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness..." His free arm wraps around his chest.

"Like resignation to the end, always the end." His head lifts up and his eyes glance over to his window.

"So when we found that we could not make sense-" A soft smile graces his beautiful face.

"Well you said that we would still be friends-" His eyes dart over from the windows to the door.

"But I'll admit that I was glad it was over..." His eyes close as he takes in a deep breath.

"But you didn't have to cut me off!" He sings with a resonant volume as someone enters his quarters.

"Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing!" His eyes open, looking at his visitor.

"And I don't even need your love!!" He points to her as she stands before the closing doors.

"But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough..." both his hands cover his heart, smiling.

"No you didn't have to stoop so low!" He puffs out his chest, pointing at her once more, viciously.

"Have your friends collect your records and then change your number!!" He turns away hastily.

"I guess that I don't need that though..." His volume decreases significantly.

"Now you're just somebody that I used. to. know..." He slowly wraps his arms around himself, gently.

The young woman who entered into the young mans quarters raises an eyebrow and allows a giant smile to appear on her crimson painted lips, the small beauty mark on the corner of her mouth only accentuating her smile and gorgeous appearance. She slowly walks over behind the young man, moving in rhythm to the beat of the music slyly. She places herself directly behind him, wrapping her arms around his chest and self-hugging arms. Her lips reach to his right ear and she begins to sing the next verse of the song, her soprano voice was heavenly and airy, her tone serious to reflect the meaning of the song. And somehow her thick french accent only giving more life to the lyrics.

"Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over." She holds him tightly causing him to laugh.

"But had me believing it was always something that I'd done..." Her arms make their way to his back.

"But I don't wanna live that way!" She instantly pushes him, point as he stumbles forward.

"Reading into every word you say!!" She stifles a laugh as he falls onto his sofa.

"You said that you could let it go!!" she lowers her arms and gives him a sly look.

"And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know!!"

She suddenly lunges forward and jumps into the air, crashing onto his lap. They both laugh hysterically as he catches her, both embracing the other as the music continues and they stumble to catch up to it, both beginning to sing in unison, and loudly as well. So loud that those who happen to be passing by in the hallway could easily hear them. However, it bothered no one as they had all become accustomed to it, and in fact enjoyed it a lot.

"But you didn't have to cut me off!!" Their foreheads touch as they lean against each other.

"Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing..." They rub their noses together softly.

"And I don't even need your love!!" They both lean backwards, acting out heartbreak.

"But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough!" Both shake their heads at each other.

"No you didn't have to stoop so low!!" They suddenly point at each other, poking at the chest.

"Have your friends collect your records and then change your number!!" They lock eyes.

"I guess that I don't need that though!!" They both lean in towards each other.

"Now you're just somebody that I used to know!!" Both embrace again and suddenly roll off the sofa.

The young man looked to the young woman he was now laying atop after having rolled off the sofa with her in tow. He laughed with her at their silliness and looked down at her, finally speaking instead of singing. "It never ceases to amaze me, you know?". The young woman looks up at him through her de-shelved hair, laughing at his words. "What? How much stronger I am than you little boy?" She raises her left arm and bends her elbow, flexing her well toned muscles triumphantly. The young man stands up and aids the young lady to her feet as he speaks. "Actually yes, that too. But I meant how you always turn up when I need you most." The young man turns with a smile on his face and reaches a dresser. He scrambles through the top drawer after he opens it. He finds a scratched PADD and lifts it up to eye level. He looks it over quickly and smiles, tossing it behind him, over his shoulder, as he closes the drawer to the young woman who catches it with an ease that would suggest that it was a more than often occurrence. "What's this?" she asks as she begins to read the material. The young man only turns and looks at her with a soft pride in his eyes. As he is about to speak, the intercom chimes and the voice of the Captain is heard.

"Counselor, can you come to the bridge?"

"Is something the matter Captain?"

"We have been getting some transmissions of a -strange- incident."

"I'm on my way Captain."

"Counselor, Is she with you?"

"Of course she is, ha ha."

"Hi Captain." The young woman cut in.

"Good, both of you can make your way up here."

"On our way Captain." They both said in unison as they locked arms and proceeded out of the young mans tastefully decorated quarters. The two left into the hallway and were met by a small applause by the passerby's, and they bowed jokingly, having gotten used to the openness of their friendship which was happily accepted by the rest of the crew... mostly... like 97%.

"Captain's log, Stardate 60792.96. Slumber... While a thing needed by the vast majority of known species, it has apparently becoming a disease capable of killing thousands. We have arrived on a Federation Colony that has been experiencing an epidemic of, how do I put it? ...sleep. At first we believed there to be something wrong with the original report. However upon receiving visual transmissions from the colony, confirming the presence of some unknown disease, we have set out to investigate the situation being the nearest starship. We have received medical reports from the colony, however they do not hold much detail. I have set the medical staff, under CMO Dr. Reeves' direction, to begin research into the matter. This may turn out to be a rescue mission for those still remaining alive and uninfected. Out of a population of 130 thousand, only 23 thousand remain 'conscious'. Troubling indeed. We have already planned a way to beam down onto the surface safely, by wearing containment suits. From the little data we have, the doctor suspects that it may be air-born. One thing is certain... The visuals provided to us for confirmation were more than disturbing... I will never erase them from my mind. If we cannot save these people... I pray that God may do so with their souls."

-Captain Haou's Last Log Entry.

One hour after the young man and woman were called to the bridge, the USS Adonis was set to a high warp setting of eight, coordinates heading directly to the newly established Federation Colony on a recently approved, M class planet that has come to be called Da'vani II. The colony itself instantly flourished upon establishment, due to the vast richness in precious ores that are commonplace on the planet. Mines were instantly structured and operated with a fierce efficiency. The colony proved to be a massive boon for the Federation, and soon with its flourishing came an explosion in population, starting with the family of the miners. This soon spread and the planet became a wondrous testing site for civil technology. Things to make life better, more convenient, was to be invented within the labs of Da'vani II. However, A message was received eight hours ago, a plea for assistance from the colonist, who now numbered in the hundred thousands. The Adonis was the nearest ship, thus it was the one assigned to offer assistance and try to solve the mystery of this sudden 'plague' that has emerged and is apparently threatening all the settlers, and the use of the planet itself. The information relayed to Starfleet was scarce and far in-between. And the information given to the Captain of the Adonis was even more so. However, a mission was a mission, and trusting in their superiors, the crew of the Adonis would comply happily, as their orders are to provide assistance to others.

Within the Akira Class starship, the crew progresses with their day to day responsibilities. Within the newly updated recreational holodeck, a group of crew members whom have been relieved until their next shift, are enjoying a relaxing performance given by one of their own, the young man who had been singing in his quarters prior. The ships' Counselor proves to be a notable vocalist, singing to the crew within a simulation of an old, laid back jazz club from Earth history. As the counselor sings, his company relaxes and kick back, taking in the soothing atmosphere from a hard days' work. Ensign Geroff begins the applause as the counselor finishes his song, and the audience soon follows her example. The counselor laughs gently as he raises a hand and speaks softly into the cube-like microphone. "Thank you everyone. We're going to let the band rest up a bit before we continue on." Stepping away from the mic, the counselor walks off of the small stage and makes his way over to his friends, all of whom are sitting at the bar, save for one who is off flirting with a waitress character.

"Nice lineup Narciso. You gave me goosebumps!" Exclaimed Ensign Geroff, her busty chest rising and falling as she laughs haughtily, moving her hands up and down her upper arms to express a false sense of cold. She spins in her chair, letting loose as she grasps her martini glass from the bar-top and slips away. Geroff spots something through the corner of her eyes and starts pointing towards it drastically, flailing about while trying to swallow her drink in time to use her voice to express what she is seeing. Narciso glances over to where she was pointing and catches the sight of lieutenant Cherrosk getting slapped across the face by the waitress. Following the echo from the hard hit, Narciso hears the sudden silence broken only by the gulp of Geroff and her loud laughing. The ensign stands up from her bar stool, her tight, forming fitting and sparkling blue dress, shimmering with the soft lights of the club, flutters behind her every taken step. She reaches the lieutenant, sneaking up behind him, and places her hand firmly on his right shoulder, using her free hand to remove the golden and curly locks of her hair that had managed to slip out from behind her ear. "Cherrosk..." she whispers under her breath, placing her lips closer to his ear, "..you know that the waitress will reject you every single time right? She's programed to N-E-V-E-R fall in love. You know its against regulations to fall for a fictional character, non?" Her thick, french accent heavy even through her whisper. The hand she placed on his shoulder suddenly rises and slams down causing a loud 'pat' to sound out and it made Cherrosk stumble forward. He recovers and turns back to face Geroff, giving her a fake punch to the gut and causing her to flinch lightly. He laughs as he then raises an arm and hooks it around her bare, milky white shoulders. "I know that Geroff! I was the one who made the adjustments! But you know me: Gotta keep checking it to make sure it works!" He laughs again as he walks towards the bar and drags Ensign Geroff with him.

Narciso smiled softly throughout watching his friends interact and joke around. He turns and faces the bartender, ordering a non-alcoholic drink and receiving a congratulations for his performance. He is then patted on the back firmly by Cherrosk, as the two friends join him. Geroff smiles her devious smile and looks to the counselor. "So, any interesting sessions lately Narciso?" She raises an eyebrow as he looks over to her, giving her his signature 'you know better than that' look. "Ensign, that is of the utmost classified manner." He speaks with a serious face that lasts for a few seconds before a smile breaks through. The three continue their conversation, the last two of the five return to the bar after dancing to the band as it toned its instruments, having a laugh at it and comparing it to the musical styling of the last planet they had visited on their past mission. Through the enjoyment, the intercom beeps and the Captains' voice is heard calling for all hands to standby at their designated stations. He tells that they have reached Da'vani II and that they will begin their investigation on the troubles on the planets' surface. He then calls the away team, of which both Ensign Geroff and lieutenant Cherrosk are assigned to. Narciso looks to them and smiles weakly. Geroff however, raises her hands above her head and waves them back and forth, "Oui, oui. We know. 'Be careful you two'. I swear Narciso, you're worse than my grand-mère and you're younger than moi!" Geroff turns abruptly and this causes her very long hair to whip at Narciso's face. He instinctively ducks quickly, out of sheer learned reflex, and lets the hair slap Cherrosk instead. Geroff laughs as she begins to trot off, calling the exit to the holodeck. The lieutenant merely goes wide eyed and still, then suddenly moves towards the exit, shouting after the ensign. "Marietta!! Marietta!! Get back here! That's the thirtieth time you've smacked me with your hair! Mariet-MARIETTA!!" the two are no longer heard as the holodeck doors close behind Cherrosk.

Narciso sighs softly as he leans against the bar, looking towards his two remaining friends. They are just cadets, who found themselves getting some experience on an actual starship in their last year of Starfleet Academy. One of them points over to Narciso, through the holographic crowd, and then to the small stage. Narciso smiles greatly as he tilts his head back then forward, stretching his neck. "Computer, how much longer until I have to appear on the bridge?" He asks as he walks towards the stage, reaching for the mic stand, which causes the holographic audience to clap in approval. The computers' feminine voice calls out, alerting that Narciso has just under three hours until he needs to report to the bridge and take his seat beside the Captain. Saying thank you to the computer, he clears his throat and begins to sing one of his favorite songs, "Have not been to Paradise", as the band begins to play. He continues this enjoyment for only a mere short while longer, releasing all his pent up stress and anxiety. For some reason he was feeling uneasy... There was a tension in his chest, it had appeared just after the Captain called for the away team to form up... Something was beginning to eat away at his core. Ever since they arrived in orbit over Da'vani II, he has been getting a 'drowsy' sensation, even though he was well rested and full of energy. Could this be the emotions of those on the planet? All the Captain had informed them was that there was a 'sleeping sickness' of some kind stirring on the planet. But could it really have such an effect? And where was this sensation of 'guilt' coming from? Maybe it was nothing... He hoped it was nothing... But of course, he knew better than to hope. Logic dictates that this was something important. He would have to convey this to the Captain.
