If you dont mind spending some zen look into the gorn ships they are usually more science focussed than the headbanging klingons :D

I guess we were too hot for the servers because our party broke them.

I had a great time, though! Thanks to everyone who made it happen:)

I just want to extend a big "thank you" to all the members of the morale department and everyone else who helped to make this event a success! Running three days of back-to-back events has got to be a lot of work!

I had a great time participating in all of the events today! Thanks to everyone who participated!

KDF is certainly not geared for sci. I've got 25 toons, and KDF Sci is the only faction/class combo I never bothered to make. Thats being said, the temporal science vessel is really the only Klingon (notice I didn't say KDF) science ship.

I will put my half cent in:

When I first started playing KDF I had a science, but I hated all of the ships. I got so irritated by this I deleted my KDF science and made a KDF engineer. This story will not help you at all, but I like to type so I thought I would share it. :S

It still irks me that my KDF Science captain is flying a raptor, in that I've not found a good science boat to alternate into. I've tried using the Vo'Quv, but the abysmal turn rates and inertia are abysmal. And while I have specced up a BoP to do rude things with Gravity Wells, I know first-hand that a BoP does not survive a horde of angry spheres very well.

I've thought about a Varanus, but short of the Fleet version, the stats just don't seem there (and what I've seen around, the Fleet-V isn't in the same tier as the rest of the fleet ships). I've been looking off-hand at saving for the Korath or possibly the Kar'Fi. (I'd say the Recluse, but something about the boff spread looks strange, for all that the pets are scary.)

Any thoughts/experience with science-y KDF boats in general, or these boats in particular?

No thanks to you I narrowed it down to a pretty dainty lil black Charr......with badass guardian or warrior skills!

Re: Race and Profession

You need to decide what race you'll enjoy looking at the most on your screen :P Ranger is a good choice for a new player. I have an Asuraan ranger that's my next alt to level up. You can mix and match so many traits/skills/builds etc that any class can be enjoyable for a variety of play-styles. Ele is squishy, but you can build a bunker build using D/D but then they're close range combat. My favorite PvE class is Warrior and my favorite WvW class is Thief. My Warrior is Norn and Thief is Human. In regards to necro or mesmer... I enjoy both classes, but I think I die more often leveling up on my necro. Endgame necros are one of the most survivable classes though. I have 5 lvl 80 characters right now: Thief, Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist and Mesmer. I am on my Warrior the most in PvE and Thief in WvW. My Ele was my first character and I'm planning to move away from the glass canon build that I have and go for the D/D bunker build... you should look it up on youtube. The play-style looks like a blast.

I wish you luck with your decision. Hopefully I didn't confuse you

Race and Profession

April 05 2013
As a beginner in this game ill be getting it Friday, I don't know what race or profession to start as.

Profession wise I like to be far from the target however I hear Mesmer and Elementalist are squishy, I hear necromancer is good but they got that creepy face paint.

Race wise I don't want too start as a human and promised my nephew an Asura ranger, so what's best for a complete noob, Charr, Sylvari or norn?

Re: Neverwinter Open Beta (Launch)

April 05 2013
It's basically a 'soft launch', in the same way that Gmail was technically in 'open beta' for years. Since the game is free-to-play, it allows them to call the initial rough period of the game (and let's face it, every MMO has an initial rough period) a beta. And, in a way, it is a beta, because they're going to be ironing out a ton of bugs.

Additionally, calling it an open beta as opposed to a 'launch' will probably lower the number of players signing on at the same time on opening day, which in turn will help with server performance during those first few days.

So yeah, it's basically a launch, but calling it an open beta will probably help keep expectations down and make things run more smoothly.

Neverwinter Open Beta (Launch)

April 05 2013
Cryptic have announced the date of the "open beta" phase for Neverwinter.

Dungeon delvers of Neverwinter, mark your calendars. We are pleased to announce that on April 30, 2013, Neverwinter, our upcoming free-to-play action MMORPG, will officially enter Open Beta! The Forgotten Realms will soon be open to millions of brave heroes and heroines who cannot wait to join the battle against Valindra Shadowmantle and hordes of other foul creatures on Faerûn. Make a stand and protect the city of Neverwinter against the ever-present dangers surrounding the city.

How would you like to play Open Beta three days before anyone else? How about five days before anyone else? You can do so by becoming a Neverwinter Founder! Early access is just one of many exclusives our Neverwinter Founders receive.

Early Access Exclusives for Neverwinter Founders
Five days Open Beta early access for Hero of the North Founder's Pack purchasers.
Three days Open Beta early access for Guardian of Neverwinter Pack purchasers.
Note: There will be no character wipes after April 25th.

They'll be no character wipe after the open beta and with no cost of entry I'm finding it hard to understand how this isn't "launch".

Anyone still play this? It's been a while since I last played and I'd like to team up with some folks that use vent or other VOIP... getting the pug groups to co-ordinate is like pulling the teeth of a panther (literally... those Panther's hurt my poor little PzKmpf III/IV!)

I wish I knew this existed...I am checking it out. Will let you know if it keeps my interest :)

Re: Annual Las Vegas Star Trek Convention Fleet Meet-up [Update]

April 03 2013
Oh trust me, the general admission never sells out. The main convention hall could fit the Saucer section of the Enterprise D inside it. I've never seen it sold out before. I can't remember exactly when general admission weekend packages went on sale but the year before last I bought mine in May. Last year I actually bought the general admission tickets for my BF at the entrance to the convention hall each day since he wasn't sure if he was going to go until the last minute so I didn't have time to pre-order them.
