Re: Need/Greed Guidelines on Loot

June 12 2013
Thanks for bringing this up Keston, the loot options is one of those things that if a guideline isn't set per match, general courtesy can sometimes be overlooked.

In my opinion, greed should be the usual fault selection with fleet groups. A simple reminder in match chat prior to starting a run may suffice. Some PUGs are good with it, some aren't.

The selection may then have to be altered to need if there seems to be a break in communication. Simply advise the team in team chat if this is the case.
With the release of the expansion and with all the new characters having been created, everyone needs to build up their EC inventory and preferred item pick-ups, if you happen to be in a situation where you really need more pick-ups than usual, discuss it with the group prior to needing everything without consensus. This may help prevent hard feelings or further misunderstandings.

I agree that greeding items by default, is the courteous thing to do when teaming with members of the fleet where no loot policy has been established before the commencement of the run.

As Aztroz has suggested, it's also a good idea to come to an agreement amongst yourselves as to how your group will be handling loot drops before launching each mission, thereby hopefully preventing any hard feelings.

Happy trekking and looting all!

Need/Greed Guidelines on Loot

June 12 2013
It has been brought to my attention that some people are "needing" instead of "greeding" in STFs and other fleet events. When one "needs" an item, it takes priority over all "greed" rolls and effectively shuts out everybody who clicked "greed". If two or more people click "need", it's decided by a random roll.

The guideline for need/greed on fleet events is to always use greed unless you really need the item for your character. Out of respect for my team, I will always mention when/what I need when I do click need. For instance, the Omega Reputation System has destroyed my supply of large hyposprays on my Reman. So, I will say, "I will be needing on Cordrazine, and greeding on everything else." before the game begins. This way, there's no unexpected surprises when this happens. Constantly clicking "need" is viewed as selfish and shouldn't be done in 100% Stonewall Groups. In sum, here are four easy guidelines I follow:

 1. Always remind the group to greed on items.
 2. By default, greed with Stonewall groups.
 3. If there's one or more pug, need.
 4. When needing during a Stonewall group, announce what you will be needing on beforehand.

Following this advice should ensure the fairness for all involved and give us all a level playing field to acquire loot. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns by replying to this post or approaching me privately.

Yup, posted about this about a month ago:http://fleet.stonewallgaming.net/forums/entertainment/60471-starship-of-the-month-club

It's $20 per ship, which comes twice a month, so basically $40 per month for two ships. In order to get the Galaxy X, the Borg cube, and the dedication plaque, you have to subscribe to it.

Check the other thread where I linked to an article at memory alpha that shows some of the history in the UK and a list that's supposed to be semi official of all ~70 ships.

Disney, while conservative, is one of the most LGBT friendly companies around. This whole mess with the SGRA is fully on the shoulders of EA. As for the game? Lots of plusses for the product, but the team really has not done a good job of public relations or customer service.

I agree Ras, while it is disappointing it's only a minor delay. Ultimately it's EA's awful attitude toward its customers that has made TOR less than what it should be but despite it all its a game that many people still enjoy playing. When it comes to what does and doesn't get released it probably has more to do with the corporate "bottom-line" end of things than it does with the Devs who toil thanklessly and bear the brunt of the player base's wrath.

Re: SW:TOR Devs FAIL Again!!!

SW:TOR is not a failure nor a disaster. It isn't perfect. No game or software ever is, but I feel that TOR is one of the most stable and well-developed PC games out there.

Consider the amount of Story content and fully-voiced and animated mission architecture that drives it, not to mention that you can team up with anyone to play any mission for social points, etc. It's designed for social gameplay, is it not?

To have all that at launch with minimal bugs with a vast item table, among other MMO elements), to me was very impressive for first-time launch. That sure as hell was NOT the case when STO launched.

Let's keep things in perspective, here. So the character transfer service blew up on the launch of a patch. Big deal. Just let them fix it and they will deliver, just like the did with re-customization. As for the same-sex romance, I think that is something beyond BioWare's immediate power to influence now that LucasArts is toast and Disney has their hand in the pot. Politics, bro. It sucks, but it is what it is. I don't blame development for it, their hands are tied.

Nonetheless it's still a great game. I appreciate it for what it delivers, and the potential it shows.

I dont see what the problem is, they found an almost game ruining bug, i know how some people are about achievements. They had a choice delay the content release so that character transfer stays with 2.2 or just delay the character transfer.
What they did seems entirely reasonable to me.

SWOTR,awesome single player game, wrapped in a lack luster massive multiplayer shell. Its almost like the old Atari days of STO, they have no real clue how to run an mmo.

I think Denise Crosby did a good job, given the script and the direction (judging from how much worse some other characters are). Additionally, the really limited gestures of the character models don't help. The voices seems out of place with what the characters are doing.

Romulan Republic characters in fleet roleplay!

June 10 2013

As some of you learned at tonight's roleplay event, the Sally Ride will soon be setting off on a joint exploration mission with a Romulan Republic ship, charting sectors of the beta quadrant unfamiliar to both nations. This will give us an opportunity to incorporate all of our new Romulans and Remans into the story and create an ongoing narrative -- a "five-year mission," in fact -- that ties our stories together.

The Romulan ship is the R.R.W. D'Galan, which for now is a Ha'nom Warbird. (I'm open to suggestions on the ship type. It has to be very modern and at least plausibly science-oriented, and exist in the game. However, a better size balance against the Nova-class Ride could be preferable.) Like the Ride, the D'Galan will be captained by a player, with other command positions available. Unlike when we started on the Ride, I'm going to pick people for the captaincy and department head spots from the outset.

I expect that most players will want to have characters on both ships. You'll be able to pick a character for each week's event, switch between characters if the story allows it, and play your other character over the communicator if the situation calls for it.

REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
 • Faction: Republic characters can be affiliated with either in-game faction, although the Captain has to be a Starfleet ally. Feel free to play your KDF allies as skeptical or suspicious of the Federation, within reason for an officer on a joint science mission. Tension is great; open violence will derail the plot.
 • Rank: Your Republic character will play a rank appropriate to an officer on a ship; it is not determined by game level. The captain will be a Commander; department heads can be Subcommanders. Those are therefore ranks that I will hand out. The rank you put on your application is the rank you want if you are not a department head or captain. Centurion, Lieutenant, and Sublieutenant are the options here.
 • Skills: You'll also list a specialization. Think of this as a skill set, not necessarily a job. If you have a character on the Sally Ride, I suggest you pick a different skill set for your Romulan. It will be handy to be able to switch to the character more appropriate for each week's scenario.

Be sure to mark your application with whether or not you would like to be considered for department head and captain positions. Not all such positions will be filled to start with, nor will the initial selections necessarily be permanent. If you're promoted and wish to amend your bio to allow for greater experience appropriate to higher rank, you're welcome to do so.

EXAMPLE APPLICATION
This is for my Romulan character.

Name: Airen Nekar
Rank: Lieutenant
Specialization: Particle physics and warp theory
A highly educated and slightly snobby futurist, Airen had to flee the old Empire when the Tal Shiar decided that his attempts to share research on newly discovered exotic particles with non-Romulan scientists constituted a threat to national security. He went into hiding, making a living by using his knowledge to soup up advanced starship components for clients without access to official channels.

D'Tan's promise of a more open Romulan society appealed to Airen, and his pursuit of an alliance with the Federation even more so. Airen has long admired the utopian aspirations of the Federation, although his own recklessness and unscrupulous attitude don't exactly make him a perfect fit for their society. He also tends to look down on cultures he judges less advanced, often on the superficial basis of less-than-flashy aesthetics or rigid cultural traditions.

I would like to be a department head. I would not like to be captain.
