I don't think the problem is with mistakes. It's REALLY easy to spot a mistake, because the person will only Need on one random thing. It generally won't be a MK XII Purple thing either. If you accidentally 'Need' a bottle of Yamok sauce you're either a klutz or a Cardassian petaQ (in which case I will put a disruptor bolt through your skull on principle jk jk jk)
If you 'Need' everything with your fellow Fleeties you are officially 'that guy'. You know, that one person who eats all the red Starbursts in the pack. Or the one who cuts in line at a buffet. Don't be That Guy.
Edit: And yeah, it's true that the general game mentality is to Need everything. But the buffet analogy still stands. If I go to a Chinese Buffet you bet I'm gonna pile my plate with General Tso's without regard for anyone else. It's a restaurant, I'm paying for all the General they can supply me with. However, if my friend hosts a buffet at their house, I exercise a LOT of restraint- I want to make sure my friends get a chance at everything before I pig the hell out. Same basic setting, but the different group of people involved means WAY different rules.
