My Thoughts on Season 9

April 25 2014
I would like to say that I've discovered running the Undine space Battlezone is the BEST way to earn marks for rep! I ran it once, killed all three planet killers ( with fleetmates ) and then the voth :)
I ended up all said and done with about 130 marks, this is what I've been averaging running BZ.

My thoughts on the undine STF's, I don't like. May just be a personal preference, but I find the graphic card drain to be hellish and I have a TOTL GC and PC...plus, I didn't find them to be too profitable...

KITS: sofar I really like being able to take out one part of the kit I had that I didn't really like to add one that I really do like. Plus, don't be afraid to trade your hard earned fleet kit in, it's painless and you don't lose anything!

REP REWARDS: Some of the guns are cool, but I'm saddened that they all look the same. IE the sniper gun is the same as a wide area beam rifle. Perhaps they ran out of time and had to stick to one design.

LOBI ARMOR: Ya, I got this for my kitty KDF. I LOVE IT. It's so sssiiiiick! Never looked more badass. I paired it with the arm lance and booya, watch out Bajor impostors I'm coming for you!!!

Oh, and I really like the bajor mission. The end is quite fun with the chase and finding the secret cave. I think that it would be cooler if at the end you got a report detailing who was incorrectly accused or who was given a pass that was really A FAAAAAKkkkkkkkkeee. Olso would be cool to see who was responsible for the .... lets say, oversight???   on the team. NOT for the reason to point fingers, but just to see who needs to pay closer attention ( even if it's yourself!!! )

ESD: looks smashing inside and out. They did a lot of editing on the exterior as well, you'll notice the terran system to be a LOT darker which makes ESD glow a lot TRUER to how it looked in the movies and show...
I really like that everything is close by and easy to get to, really really slick job. I like it as much as I like new rom command!! ( I can haz new klingon homeworld map??? I wish).

WATCH OUT FOR THOSE SPACE GLOBS!!!

Faced with what is right, to leave it [strike]undone[/strike] undine shows a lack of courage.

Thou must sacrifice a newly shorn goat at the summer solstice at midnight, while chanting the words "ugthulu umbali ugh". Collect the blood in a copper bowl and promptly burn it to ash in a hot flame.

Just kidding, by the time you log in next it may already be done, if not just ask for an invite in the Stonewall fleet channel, an officer will get you in lickety split.

Yep, it sure does. When I read that my choice would be permanent and that if I chose KDF, we would be enemies of the Federation, I reconsidered - and my roommate did as well.

So now we are both: Romulan - Federation (So that should allow is to get an invitation, though I don't know just yet how that gets accomplished.)

OH, I see now! The alliances are really just a sideline story adventure, and has really nothing to do with our ability to join the Stonewall fleet and group up. (Very Cool.) As much as I admire the FEDS and I really do, I think for my sideline adventure I'm feeling a little bad-ass would be nice. Been there and done the whole "Hand shake" thing, now a little Rokeg blood pie with my morning coffee doused with the French Vanilla creamer, would be a cool eye-opener! LOL

Selecting your faction does have a bit of an affect on what you can do and who you can play with. In most locations, there is no cross faction teaming; meaning a KDF (Klingon Defense Force) character and a Fed (Starfleet) can't join the same time. If your playing partners decide to join the opposite faction, it'll be difficult for you to continue playing with them till you hit max level. Once you get to level 50, things do get a little easier cross faction-wise. Most raids or queued content can be joined by both factions at the same time, but you require a team of 5 to actually do the content at least.

You'll still be able to join our fleets, but if you say choose to align with KDF, you don't be able to join Stonewall Fleet, per se, but rather our KDF sister-fleet, House of Nagh reD (House of Stone Wall). Our main chat channel, StonewallFleet, is cross faction so you'll still be able to chat with everyone regardless of what faction you choose.

And, of course, KDF and Feds have very different storylines which you should check out! But for a good part of your leveling you'll be doing Rom content anyhow.

Hope that helps!

I finished all missions from the mission log and was left with this unpleasant thought "what now??" - now I know, I have the new mission :D So they came just in time!
However, I was completely unaware of the new season. Just three days ago I finally earned enough fleet credits to buy myself the Spire Science Kit Mk XII. So I am really upset they introduced something new. I put some effort in analyzing what best suits me and now there are the new ones I even don't know how to obtain, modules too :/

You can exchange your old Fleet Kit in for one of the new Kits at the Spire.

Hello! And welcome to STO and more importantly, Stonewall!

In my personal experience, STO has a lot to offer in a myriad of ways. I, like you, originally started with a Romulan character and when I reached the point of no return, I struggled. Interestingly enough, I choose my faction and it was quite fun. Stonewall is not limited to one faction/side - and you can often see the fleets cross-teaming in diverse missions.

It's even more fun when personal friends join along in the adventure! I often play with my little brother (when I'm strangling him) from time to time. Hopefully, you will enjoy the game a lot and stick around! Good luck and may the force be with you!

Hi Siafu

I too would like to echo what has been said previously. We were all new to STO once, and all had a million and one questions. Unfortunately some of us were not in fleets at the time so had to work things out ourselves.

You are in a strong, dependable, loyal fleet, where everyone is willing to help each other regardless.

Never be shy to openly ask a question. If you feel the question you have may come across wrong or people might think you are making yourself look silly, you are a million light years from the truth. Everyone and in mean everyone will always be willing to help regardless :)

Hi Siafu! Welcome to STO, I thought I'd recognized you from long ago here on the forums. I'm the Admiral of the KDF Fleet and I can say you couldn't have picked a better time to roll a KDF toon. Before, there wasn't much in the way of a KDF storyline which they finally changed and the ships are great. If you're a Romulan, it won't make too much of a difference in terms of your storyline progression and whom you're able to team with once you reach the end game. Let me know if you have any questions about the KDF Fleet and don't forget to check out our awesome starbase ;)

Can't wait to join fleet and chat it up. Just to let you know how much I actually love Star Trek....

When I was a young boy (many many light-years ago) my mom bought me a toy phaser pistol ( the first one to come out in the franchise.) I, of course, would not leave home without it and one day I took it with me on a Boy Scout outing up in the Adirondack mountains. Needless to say I got very lost. I was terrified I wouldn't be found, so much so, I couldn't even scream for help. But I did think to take out my phaser and start shooting it in the air, and several minutes later I was found by our group who heard the phaser echos in the woods. After that all my Boy Scout buddies wanted one! So I'm like, "DUH don't you guys watch Star Trek, you never go on an Away-Mission without your phaser!!!"

(40 years later, I still think of that day. And now.... it's all more exciting than ever. LESS the scary part! LOL)

Hey, Siafu!

It's awesome to have some of our GW2 folks come and give STO a try. I'm excited for the adventure you'll embark on and will gladly help you with any questions about the game, or any concerns, that you may have.

With regards to your question -- why not make two Romulans and have them ally with each faction? :cheer: Lol, obviously, this is what I did, but I wanted to experience both story lines, which have each been great to follow. I was always a Starfleet brat, and was often told that I was too nice to play Klingon, but after playing through the story I found myself enjoying it immensely! The Federation values peace, and science, and discovery of new life and civilizations. Klingon's are more militaristic, with a passion for battle. Honor is everything to them. As willjaneway (Dex) said, it mostly comes down to your own personal play style. In the end, you'll have a great story to follow either way!

If there's anything else we can help you with, feel free to ask us here or in our in-game fleet chat channel.

See you among the stars!

Hi Siafu!

Welcome to STO and Stonewall!

As @williamjaneway said, it´s a question of personal preferences.

I mostly play on fed side (I like the philosophy that´s behind Starfleet) although I also have Klingon toons (and i switch to them if I want to play badass, lol).

Sure, the fed player base is larger but I don´t think that you will have difficulties to team up if you ask in the Stonewall channel. And besides, later when you will have reached the endgame level and have to do special task force missions: there´s the possibility to team up cross faction.

I don´t think that you can make a "wrong" choice. Just try it out!

And if you have questions: JUST ASK in our channel :) . Nobody will laugh at you bc it´s a "noob" question (we all started as newbies!) and there are always people willing to help.

Greetings, @chemistryset

Good Morning,

Welcome to Stonewall Fleet!

First of all the game, for a new player has a lot of depth to explore, storylines are slightly different for each faction (Fed, KDF and Romulan). As far as Romulan alignment this is ultimately down to personal preference for most players. In my opinion, and it is just that, Federation alignment is going to give you access to a larger player base to participate in missions and team up. Although we do have a strong KDF contingent.

Drop me a message in game @williamjaneway and I will try and help out in game best I can with anything else you may have queries regarding.

Also we have a TeamSpeak server which can also be a good place to speak to people and get advice :)

Just started, literally a few days ago. I'm quite lost on some things, but here's the one question I have for the moment.

I chose to play Romulan and I'm at the part in the 9th level quest where I have to chose and Alliance with either the Federation or Klingon. Could someone help me so I don't make a mistake and chose the wrong one. Me and my friends want to join up with some of you in-game. We are all going Romulan to begin with, and all three of us are serious NOOBS. LOL

Thank ya kindly. :)

I just want to say that I am not happy at all that they downgraded DJ Zuza to a bartender!

I feel that this was an unfair maneuver on their part and she should sue them.

Don't worry, Club 47 is still being put together by the Environment team. She'll be spinning mad jamz again before we know it, and i'm sure that Stonewall will be there for opening night. Amirite? ;)

No ETA on when we'll see it open, but per Tacofangs, Environment Lead Dev: "The club is still planned. ... ..the intent is to have the Club entrance be the door part way up the ramp in the room with the palm trees."

My Thoughts on Season 9

April 23 2014
A few things that I have not enjoyed about the latest season.

PVE Undine Missions - The ground mission is somewhat enjoyable and has a purpose behind it. Search. Interrogate. Detain/Release. Find the Boss. However, the two space missions seem to lack purpose and overall clarity behind them. And while I understand that the visuals in those respective space zone are meant to represent Fluidic Space - it's just a ghastly sight. And it seems many other players are having graphic card issues to that end.

Overall, it's one of those you either hate them or you love them. In this case, and with limited options of gaining Undine marks for the moment, it would seem it'll be an acquired taste of sorts.

With that said, I absolutely enjoyed the Featured Episode mission in tandem with the revamped Borg/Undine Storyline. The revamped aspect really creates a synergy with standing and future elements of the game and created a more cohesive impact. I'm not going into details for the sake of not revealing any information for the benefit of those whom have yet to explore Season 9.

I initially met the trait selection with apprehension and reproach. I had originally argued that a lot of work and effort went into acquiring the reputation traits. However, upon further contemplation - I can see the need for balance across the board. I have to say - something worked in that formula. I'm seeing a huge difference in survival in my experience. I suspect this is tied into the customized kits.

Kits. I, like many, recently acquired a premium fleet-level kit and I was somewhat alarmed that I may have prematurely invested into something costly but upon closer inspection - the trade-off is well worth it. At least, in my eyes, the numbers are superior along with the benefits.

And lastly, I am very pleased with the visual updates of Earth Space Dock. It now rivals the likes of New Romulus. if not even surpassing it. I do enjoy some of the in-game nods to the update.

In closing, I did enjoy a lot of the newly released content and I still find myself wanting to play STO with marked interest. With each season update, comes a period of transition and transitioning is never easy but sometimes necessary to push the game forward. The game must evolve or it'll simply cease in holding the interests of the playerbase and without players, you don't have much of an MMORPG.

Enjoy.

What I do really love is the ESD!! It is amazing! Very functional and quite small, I don't need to run all around the place to find stuff. And it's pretty
