Salutations and Greetings from Jupiter Force

Hello esteemed members of the diplomatic corps of Stonewall.

My name is Xal'Quelrin, better known as Big Daddy Xal', a diplomat from Jupiter Force.
We would like to formally extend our hand in friendship of your fine fleet, in hopes of bringing our communities closer together, as two large and separate multi-gaming groups, I think it would be an excellent idea if we had better communication with each other.
I have had many encounters with your fleet in Star Trek Online, and I have to say they never disappoint me, especially in STFs and other team based missions.
With these relations comes a chance for inter-community events and activities, so that all members from both our fine fleets and interact, learn some new things and have fun.

I would like to thank you also for the work you have done in STO for the LGBT community, as in a lot of games, in my opinion, they are often overlooked and under appreciated.

I hope to hear from you soon, so relations can start smoothly.

Regards,

Xal'Quelrin

The forums are going nuts with hearsay.

I'm not sure I'd characterize so much as 'hearsay' as just 'blatant speculation'.

I get your previous point; it's not without reason - and there's a thread devoted to the PR 'epic fail' emerging from waiting more than two whole days to make major, substantive announcment.

I'm still decompressing from Vegas. If I were Al and the crew - I'd have preemptively sicked out the next couple of days.

Frankly - pretty much the overwhelming bulk of FORUM DOOOOM! going on right now is nothing that other games have just ridden over with new expansion content.

Thanks for the info Jacien, I've been trying to follow the updates down under.

I'm holding judgment on the new ships until we gets some dev posts. I do like the designs though.

Personally I'm amazed there haven't been any dev announcements. It's surprising that there wasn't anything pre-prepared to go in concert with the STLV reveals. The forums are going nuts with hearsay.

The interior alone would be reason enough to get the intrepid pack. :)

Voyager interiors are rather jaw-dropping, i'd say.

40+ some dev blogs to be posted in the coming days... Once more unto the breach, dear friends. :)

Thanks for all the info, Jacien!

I'm going to hold off my judgements until I hear how the "upgrade path" is going to work out...I'm a little skeptical!

The Romulan and KDF T6 ships are lovely. The Fed one....umm...yah.... =P

The only tier 5 science ship I never got was the intrepid I'm kinda glad now if it is getting rereleased as a pack.

Christ 8 toons to get to level cap and requip with gear this could tale a while.

Indeed. Look at the Vulcan D'kyr! But this thing would be a tanking beast. Send her into the middle of a fleet and leave her to it.

Oh and on another note, it seems the Intrepid pack is coming. I'm glad I waited to buy her.

I suppose they'll have some ridiculous suspension of disbelief to explain how such a meaty-but-technologically inferior ship could be competitive at T6 (presumably).

But then we have plenty of 300 year old ship designs and tons of alien flotsam floating around the game.

So 'plausibility' is clearly a malleable concern at Cryptic...

Dreadnaught carrier definitely. One hangar with raider frigates (launches 2 per hangar)

Predator-class.

I could totally see that being somewhere in a heavy cruiser or dreadnought carrier.

That Kazon ship (IMO) look's a bit like a Lego type ship.
To bricky.
I wanted the big one ..like the one that crashed into the array :(

That's the one I want!

On a side note - I see we've been linked to from the main STO Forum boards.

So greetings to everyone visiting.

Also, I've been reviewing my notes from the Cryptic panel.

A few points I've not seen upthread:

1) The maps for the expansion will be located on the 'South' side of the Delta Quadrant - Devs' words. I assume that to more precisely mean the end of the Delta Quadrant closer to the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. So it's less likely we'll be visiting Talax or the Ocampan homeworld (as seen in 'Jetrel' and 'Caretaker' respectively).

2) New ground locations (not clear if these will be social hubs or not) include a species known for reproduction based on DNA engineering - I imagine this means the Kobali (as seen in 'Ashes to Ashes'). Or possibly the Taresians (as seen in 'Favorite Son'). Other, less likely possibilities might include Quarra, or the Vhnori homeworlds.

3) There would 'probably' be a new reputation tree.

4) Of the new T6 ship designs presented, the Stafleet cruiser featured upthread was also matched by a Science Vessel - implying there'll also be a T6 Starfleet escort in the works. Career-demarked variants for Romulans and Klingons were not presented.

5) During the Voyager panel Q&A, someone asked Kate Mulgrew and Ethan Phillips if they might join Tim and Garrett for lending their voice talents to STO. To which Kate replied "Didn't we do that?"

Talaxians and Ocampa were implied to be available as BOffs and DOffs at the very least - though I have in my notes that being playable isn't explicitly something the Devs offered up.

I suppose it's also possible:

1) Both races will be available as Z-Store, maybe even lockbox unlocks

2) Overt and refined Talaxian and Ocampa costume pieces will be made available for the generic 'Alien' race in the editor

I'm guessing from the way they presented the Talaxians and Ocampa, as opposed to the Hierarchy species, that they will be playable. I'm also guessing this is going to be another mini-faction situation.
