I am with you guys on this one, despite the programming ups and downs that go along with this (and all other) MMO's, I have never looked back from this game since I started. For as long as we have some kind of Star Trek, be it a game or onscreen show, I will always try to be a part of it when it happens. :)

I agree totally Dave. Alot of the Doomers that choose to see the negatives rather than balance it out with the positives are the ones hurting STO not the development choices. Alot of people who look at comments relating to games prior to actually trying it first see the negative posts, so ultimately that puts them off.

I myself was originally put off from trying STO due to experiences from other MMO's I had tried, but I downloaded it thinking I would just see, expecting only to play for 30 mins or so before uninstalling .... well those 30 mins have now become 4 years, so there you have proof that negative comments and feedback should really be taken with a pinch of salt.

I think that the game has done amazing things with what it had to work with and considering where it came from, something a lot of the commenters seem to forget. Sometimes it's easy to get frustrated with the game and some design decisions that are made, but all in all, indefinitely think that the Star Trek gaming world is better with STO than without :)

So now with the Dauntless included in the Delta Pack, we now have a T6 sci vessel along with the T6 cruiser Guardian class for non-intel Starfleet ships. Hopefully by the roll out, we will also get a T6 tac to have a complete T6 non-intel trinity.

Also...Odyssey, Avenger, Steamrunner, Akira variants, Tempest variants al...well I'll let this picture say it for me...

This is something else that leads me to believe that we're seeing the last major expansion to Star Trek Online. The devs are pulling out all of the stops: increasing the cap rank to fleet admiral, implementing the races of the Delta Quandrant/Voyager era and introducing ideas and items previously withheld.

I'm not saying that STO is going to die tomorrow or that fun updates won't be coming anymore. But games, all games go through a life cycle and STO is starting to get a little long in the tooth as far as MMO's go. I'm quite sure that most will still be here 2 and 3 years from now. But I think Delta Rising quite probably represents that last major expansion to the game.

Yes, we all love Star Trek (ok, most of us). We expect certain things from the franchise and are disappointed when the decision makers act contrary to what we hold most dear. But, I say that we should enjoy it for what it is.

i like the ships with "holes" in it.... the "holes" give a sense of uniqueness to the class of ship.... just like with the USS VENGEANCE from Into Darkness, which is one of my favorite ships..... and though it will never happen, id love to fly one in STO....!

Playing a CO that is a science officer doesn't lock you into driving a science ship. I quite enjoy driving a cruiser with my science officer CO. So if you find the ship hideous and feel that you absolutely need to buy a tier 6, why not attempt a crossover to driving an escort or cruiser.

I wish I had the self restraint to do so but as a science captain primarily my options are limited for tier 6 so I will wait on stats and cross my fingers that there are skins for it :p

4 years later it gets pushed into the game.

Funnier still is that the rage was towards a ship developed by and/or with the actual ship designers for the Star Trek TV show and movies.

It's also funny that people raged that Starfleet is still fielding Miranda and Constitution class ships in STO and now raging that SF's ship designs aren't stodgily sticking to the old TNG/VOY/DS9 design language.

You don't have to do anything in the game that you don't want. Never let stats or min maxing get in your way of fun. If you feel the ship is uglier than a boil on the bottom of a baboon, then don't play it. That's how I felt about the new Avenger class (I say new avenger class because there was already an avenger class star cruiser, the class of which they renamed so they could use its name on that horrendous pile of dookie they managed to foist onto the punters.) And that's why I don't play the Avenger class. It looks like it was designed by a playskool employee who didn't particularly like Star Trek. I don't care if all of its stats are 9999999, you won't catch me in it.

So if you think the Dauntless is hideous, don't drive it. If you drive it, anyway, voicing your opinions about its looks are simply vexatious and superfluous lamentation.
